Extended Balconies on the Miracle

We are booked on the Miracle this July, in a block of six extended balcony rooms. The difference is... a regular balcony is 40 sq ft, and an extended is 60 sq ft. Now you'd think being "extended" would mean you are extending further out than the other balconies, but they're not; they're actually tucked in closer than the other regular sized balconies. So the short answer is... 20 sq ft. You get more width, same amount of length.

Hope that helps :)

And there are a few, if you're lucky enough to snag one, that are toward the aft, next to storage, so your balcony extends the legnth of your cabin PLUS the storage. We snagged one on the Legend...the cabin numbers should be the same...check cabin 7258. I'm thinking there must be cabins like this on each balcony level. Same price as the other extended balconies;)

We got 6232 and 8J. The room is the same but an elevator is next to us, so we get the length of our room and the elevators. I'm really excited. Our last was an Aft Wrap. Can't afford that everytime, so we managed to snag this room!!

Can someone please tell me what the difference is between a regular balcony and an extended on. Thanks

We had a regular balcony on Miracle while our friends had an extended balcony. The extra room was nice, but the view to the water was the deal breaker. The life boats block the view straight down, which is very important to me. They have no effect on the view out, though. But since I love to stare straight down and watch the water hit the ship as we sail, we opted for the regular balcony.

Personally, I think this is a design flaw. The extended balconies should have no lifeboats beneath them while the regular balconies should.

Agreed! For the extra bucks we should get the extra view too!

I am alittle disappointed that we're not exactly "extending" out, but are actually tucked back. I'll get over it I'm sure. I'll just have to be happy watching the horizon. Ohhhh, how will I ever manage. Woe is me. ;)

If you are on the Verandah or Panorama decks, the life boats are not an issue.

I have been in room 7199 and 7200 on the Miracle and both are excellent. Later this year I will be up one deck higher. If you are lower, I would not suggest an extended, because the lifeboats do ruin the view of the water.

I was wondering the same thing about looking down on lifeboats. We have ALWAYS had an aft wrap, but like DTC, we had to "downgrade" this cruise to save some $ and happened to find an extended balcony. We are in 8232, so higher up. I am WAY SPOILED after being in an aft wrap so many times, but it won't ruin my cruise, that's for sure! :) ;) I just like to be "forewarned" a bit!

We had these cabins on the Legend, and the lifeboats were not an issue at all. We too prefer aft wraps, but my sister needed the handicap cabin (7260), so this worked out great for us to have these three in a row! I know that one deck is extremely narrow, but I can't remember if it is 5 or 6, but it is barely wide enough for a chair. I saw a picture on here not too long ago and was quite surprised.

We bought a BAL GTY on the Miracle when it was new, and were upgraded to an extended balcony. (I think the cabin was 8228, but can't remember for certain.)

It was our first and only balcony experience, and while it was nice to have the balcony space, it's not something I would book specifically. As others mentioned, the lifeboats are just below, and one morning we were awakened to the sound of someone cleaning the nearest lifeboat with a water pressure device.

2 years ago I was in 5116 extended balcony on the Miracle. It did not have a view of the life boats and it did extend out. The people above us kept joking that if they jumped overboard, they would land on our balcony.

I stand corrected, your extended actually did extend. I hadn't realized that there were another section of EB cabins towards the front of the ship where you were on deck 5. We're on deck 7, mid-ship, and the extended cabins do not extend :(. But heck... I'm goin on a cruise, so I am not complaining :D

I also agree. We were in 8124 last time, balcony cabin on Panorama deck & it was a great cabin with a fine balcony & terrific views. This time (22 more days) I wanted to book an Ocean Suite & had originally booked 6162 but then realized the lifeboats would ruin my view straight down. I called the PVP back immediately & changed to an OS aft.

Either way, a balcony is the way to cruise! In February DH and I had an aft-wrap on the Miracle. Looks like I will never go back to a regular balcony now!![/quote

Yep, that's what happens...our afts were the cabins with the seperate rooms and they were a dream come true. ;)

You are in the cabin we booked for December!!:D Could the folks upstairs see your ENTIRE balcony or just the outermost part?
