sandyh422 Posted May 3, 2010 #26 Share Posted May 3, 2010 We made a trip last year to Alaska last year, the first week of June. We rented a car and drove to Denali. We were very fortunate as the weather was warm and clear and the view of Mt Mckinley was awesome. Trying to remember, but it seems that we were maybe 50 miles north of Talkeetna when we saw the spectacular sight. We were told that we were quite lucky as there are not many days when you could see Mt Mckinely so clearly. We thought that the most scenic trip was the train ride from Anchorage to Seward. There is a viewing area pull off about mile 133, of McKinley. Also an excellent view on the Talkeetna Spur Road.
