Will Carnival let you move kids up to Circle C if only 3 months short of 12 years?

As long as it's not already overfull they tend to allow a 3 month window (sometimes more if it's not crowded at all). If they are within 3 months of their bday they can move up or down, they should be fine. Go the first night to the group they want for the meet and greet thing they have and ask nicely :)

They are rather strict with the age limits - otherwise there are so many parents asking to move up or down because their kids are mature or relate better to younger kids or want to be with a sibling or...

so no. The age on the date of sailing is the age group the child is assigned.

Not usually.

And in the 12/14 group, they can (and do) sign themselves out and roam the ship..(usually in herds), (there is much less supervision per sae)

Do you really want your 11yr old in with kids that (could be0 almost 15???

Personally, I would not.

They would be in with the 9/11s so there would probably be other kids almost 12 also. Activites would not be "kiddie things" they would be age approprate for 9/11yo (and that includes 'almost 12')

From Carnival's FAQ:

Children 9 YEARS OLD AND OVER are free to sign themselves in/out of Camp Carnival as they choose at any time and for any reason. Camp Carnival is not responsible for children 9 years old and over once they have signed themselves out of a Camp Carnival Activity. Please give your 9 - 11-year-old child a stateroom key or arrange to meet him or her at a specific time and place. Children are not permitted to sign themselves out after 10:00 pm. After 10:00 pm 9 - 11-year-olds must be picked up by their parent from After Hours (fees apply after 10:00 pm). Parents that do not want their 9 - 11-year-olds to sign themselves in & out of our activities will be REQUIRED to sign their child in & out when attending Camp Carnival. If the parent/legal guardian chooses to change this policy and allow the child to sign in/out by themselves they must contact the Youth Director

Clear as Mud

Perhaps this is why there is some confusion over this...

I know first hand that this rule has changed at least for Club 02 as early as Dec. 08. They will let kids within 3 months of their 15th birthday move from Circle C to Club 02. We didnt ask we were told and given the option for my ds. He was 14 when we cruised Dec. over New Years and he turned 15 in early March. He moved up and was a happy kid! I do not have experience with the younger group, just know it is not across board for all age groups that they have to stay in the supposed age group..

My daughter was 2 1/2 months shy of her 9th birthday on our last cruise, and they gave us clearance to move her into the 9-11 year old group. They didn't bat an eye.

But by the time we asked it was mid-cruise and she was intimidated by the idea of joining a new group, so she just stayed with us most of the time.
