We will be in Athens on a Monday. I notice museums are closed on Mondays. What exactly will we be able to see? Acropolis, Temple of Zeus, Hadrian's Arch....? I know that we will not be able to go in Acropolis Museum, but what else will we miss :(.

If you are only there for a day, there will be more than enough to keep you busy outdoors without going into a museum (especially if the weather is nice), but if you do want to visit one, the National Archaeology Museum is wonderful. It's large though, so having guide book material with a list of the highlights will be beneficial for a short visit there. (On Mondays it's only open in the afternoon.) The small museum in the Ancient Agora is worth stopping at when you are in the Agora.

Highlights that will be open are the Acropolis, Temple of Zeus, Roman and Ancient Agoras, Kerameikos (all included on your Acropolis ticket). Additional sites: Syntagma Square, Old Olympic Stadium, National Gardens, and the Plaka.

Enjoy!
