If it's for a different room, then it's not for you. Realistically, the family promenade room isn't going to have a price drop. They only have a few of these rooms onboard, and they are in great demand. They're not going down in price.

What you CAN do: Compare the price of whatever room is marked down, and decide if it's worth switching rooms. For example, if -- with the price drop -- you found that two connecting oceanviews could be had for the same cost as your family promenade room, you might be tempted to switch to have more floorspace and an extra bathroom.

IF you are going to change, or IF you find another price drop at some point, here's what you do:

Did you book through the cruise line? (Hope so -- that's easier.) Call Royal Caribbean IMMEDIATELY (sometimes these things are temporary) and just tell them, "I'm on ____ sailing, and I see that there's a price drop in my room category. I'd like a price match." They'll almost certainly try to upsell you to a more expensive room (the idea being that you've already paid the money, why not get more room?), so decide ahead of time whether that's something that interests you. Within an hour, you'll receive an email confirming what you discussed.

Anytime you call, have your confirmation number ready, and if you're considering changing rooms, have your computer open to the deck plans so you can SEE what you're discussing with the operator.

If you booked through a travel agent, call and ask him or her to get the price drop for you. Personally, I don't like to trust that someone else is going to do this for me.

Mrs. Pete said it right.

I would call RCCL and ask. Perhaps, even if you see two adjoining Promenade cabins, you can switch and get a little OBC. Remember some price drops are for new bookings only, etc.

I have heard also that Family promanade rooms are awesome and people who get them are extremelly lucky.

I tried getting a family PR for our cruise (about 9 months in advanced) and they were already sold out....

Let us know what happens plz.

If you decide that you don't want to change rooms and keep your family promenade, go ahead and call RCCL to see if your category has dropped. I have gotten a price drop on a family promenade before, but we don't sail in the summer. It's a long shot, but you never know, so it never hurts to call and ask, since that category isn't listed online.

i called and was told that since they only have 4 family promenade rooms and they are all sold there will be no price drops for our room. couldnt even get a military discount. so i guess i will have to price out a different room and see if its worth it. we were very excited about this room so maybe its for the best anyone ever stay in room 7607

With a party of five it will be difficult if not impossible to find another room that will accommodate all of you, so, unless you are willing to split up your family and book two rooms, you should probably stay where you are. Even with a residency rate or military discount, the cost for two rooms is most likely going to be more than what you are paying for your family promenade room. You are, unfortunately, the victim of "supply and demand" and their explanation of the situation is spot on. There is no reason for them to discount the price for rooms or categories that are all sold out and no one should expect them to do so.

okay if ive done the math right if we switch rooms to 2 rooms on 2nd floor ocean view we could save about 1300 dollars, im all about saving money but the room is also at the back of the boat and im worried about getting sea sick, so what are your thoughts on 2 rooms back of boat and lots of money saved

My kids have stayed in 7307 on the Liberty and we have 8307 booked for them in September. We really liked the 7th deck too, but there weren't any balcony rooms across from either of the family promenade rooms on deck 7, so we are trying deck 8 this time. Hoping it's not too high and not be able to see what is going on down on the promenade, my kids really loved that part.

Lower decks, middle ship is the best for sea-sickness.

Deck 2 is a good deck. If you are saving $1300, that is a lot of money. Make sure you check what's above your deck (you don't want to be below the casino, clubs, etc) especially with children.

Maybe they have connecting rooms you can book, so you can keep your door open and it would be like a big family cabin.

Remember, you are also trading your promenade view, where you can watch parades from; but you will also have a view with an OV

$1300 is a great deal of money. I'd switch. You'll have more floor space, an extra bathroom, and a little more privacy. As long as you get connecting rooms, you'll still be with the kids. Add in a window, and I think you've got a winner.

Admittedly, none of us have any problem with seasickness, but our very favorite cabins are those in the aft. Hop on the elevator, and you'll go straight up to the buffet. A few steps outside, and you're at the pool.

2nd floor is fine -- we've been there too.
