Where Does the Crew Go While a Ship is in Dry Dock?

Just wondering what happens to the crew while a ship goes out of service. Do they stay with the ship? Is DD timed to meet their rotations? Do they get extra training, or just paid time off?

If a new crew comes on after DD, I would think there'd be some difficulties with a new crew acclimating themselves to the ship. Anyone know the answers?

As a former crew member (ships nurse) several years ago, we had to go to DD but still stayed onboard, The ships medical center still had to stay open for crew members ailments/accidents etc...but nowhere near as busy of course without passengers....
