Carnival taking care of guests with food allergies?

Hi,

I just sailed the NCL Sky and thought they did an incredible job in preparing meals for our 4 year old son with food allergies. Basically we would meet with the Maitre D either the day before or the meal before and pre-order a meal for him. We would arrive for dinner and meet with the Maitre D again and let them know we would be coming back in about 20 minutes, as it would take a little while to cook a "special order". NCL was great in this dept.

Has anyone with food allergies had this type of experience on Carnival?

I sailed on the Holiday and the Fantasy with life threatening shell fish allergies and I feel the Cruise ship staff in the MDR did a great job. I should say that it is probably much easier to avoid shell fish than peanuts though. I ate all my meals in the MDR except lunch on sail away and I just stuck with food that I didn't have to wonder if there was shell fish in it.

DW has multiple food allergies that cause her migraines.

Each night we meet with the asst MD and plan her dinner for the next night. Works great.

For breakfast and lunch we can deal with ourselves.

Don't know the specific dietary needs, but we saw the same thing at the table next to us on the Conquest in January.

No, not allergies, but my sister had dietary needs to be met and they went out of their way and were wonderful!!!

Email the Special Needs Desk NOW!!! specialneeds@carnival.com

Tell them what you need and they'll direct you to whether this should wait and inform the chef / M'D on board -- or they need to list it now...

One further comment. We tell the head waiter and he has the asst MD come over after the meal is served. They make DW's food seperately and she is able to get some nice special requests.

However I would still eyeball everything as they have made some strange errors a time or two.

But overall they are outstanding.
