ssb Posted April 19, 2010 #26 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Latest rumor is that the Voyager of the Seas will be back in Galveston for the 2011-2012 season, but no Freedom class ship. This thread reminds me...I wonder what is happening with the new Houston Bayport terminal? Still vacant, I suppose. ---------------------------------------------------------- No Freedom class for sure right now! Vogager through 05/12. Its not if Galveston will have a ship... its... only if a ship will be in Galveston year around, and whether it will be the Voyager, Radiance or Mariner. RCCL is not leaving Galveston. We should know answers to above in the next couple of weeks.:D
packedandready Posted April 19, 2010 #27 Share Posted April 19, 2010 We were on Voyager in March/April 2008 and enjoyed the ship and Galveston. Lots to see and do in the area. And yes, the Texans we met were freindly and enjoyable to be around. The only downside I can recall was the cost of ground transportation options from Hobby to Galveston, and the length of time it took to self-disembark (about 1 1/2 hours from getting in line on the ship through customs). We did not have any fog issues the two weekends we were in Galveston, but apparently can be a problem during winter and early spring. Just returned home from the Voyager today :( Wonderful, wonderful cruise and the best debarking we've had in 7 cruises. We didn't self debark, but from the time our color was called, through the terminal, to the shuttle, to the parking lot and driving off took under 45 minutes. As simple as it could possibly be.
