nothomeonacruise Posted April 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2010 Just don't leave anything of value in your car. I worry about parking my car to go shopping for a few hours in Miami. I wouldn't leave an unattended car overnight or for several days. What if something happens and your alarm goes off? Miami has very high crime. Sorry, but I think you're better off in a more secure area like the port.
Muumuu Posted April 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2010 As a native of Miami I agree with the poster who advised against it. It really is not a smart move.
firefly333 Posted April 17, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2010 I know friends in Ft. Lauderdale who wouldnt drive into Miami by themselves, ladies. Not one of the safer cities to leave a car unattended. I wouldnt either. I moved here from Boca Raton, north of Miami, but dont think Im a snob. Miami isnt a city to leave your car unattended at a Walmart imo.
Crusin Hogs Posted April 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2010 Our hotel we stayed at near the airport offered free parking, Drive you to the port and pick you up, After I saw the surrounding neighborhood and the parking had no fence, or gate, I drove to the port paid 140.00 to park for the week , I thought 140.00 was cheaper than my Insurance deductable
scorp111 Posted April 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2010 We used United Airport Parking at the Port of Miami. The cost is 1/2 that of the port, which really adds up for a 9 day cruise. The garage is about a mile from the port, very near the Hilton Downtown Miami. It comes with a free shuttle both ways. The shuttle over was very easy around 11:30am, and the shuttle on the return took a little while longer, but was still worth the $100 we saved. Cruise Lover26 Posted April 18, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted April 18, 2010 Thank you for all your replies. We will use United Parking as it seems to be the best for our needs.
BlueHerons Posted April 18, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2010 Thank you for all your replies. We will use United Parking as it seems to be the best for our needs. I would search this forum before you leave your car anywhere but the POM. Many many complaints about vandalism, theft, damages, etc reported and it happens often. I would never ever leave a car in South Florida in an unsecure lot. My sister lives in a very wealthy low crime area of Miami and has had five cars stolen. Five.
