happyfaerie Posted April 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2010 hi all, looking to do a bach/pool day while in nassau. was looking into something at Atlantis. I see they have 2 options (see below). Which would be good if i just want to relax and go in the water on atlantis property? We will be travelling with a 19 month old. Seems like niether of these have both pool and beach access. Can you share your experiences with either of these excusrions? Is there something that will allow u both pool and beach access on Atlantis property? What is the Aquaventure about? is it just a water park? thanks! 1)- Discover Atlantis & Beach Break : Nassau Upon arrival at Paradise Island, you'll be escorted to a reserved location on the beach where you'll be provided a beach lounge chair and towel to bask in the sun, a meal coupon for lunch at the Dive In snack bar and a self-guided map which will help you find your way around the resort. You can explore shopping at a variety of unique stores, gaming in the Atlantis Casino or visit The Dig 2)-Atlantis Aquaventure : Nassau Featured Tour It's new; it's big; and it's fun for the entire family. Come play at Aquaventure, the centerpiece of the Atlantis Resort's recent billion-dollar development. Containing over twenty million gallons of water, this non-stop water experience consists of thrilling new water slides, a mile-long river ride with high intensity rapids, wave surges, and never-before-seen special effects. negn Posted April 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2010 Friend waited till she got on board to book and was sold out (thus was spring break time) She could not do on her own either as booked up So, if intersted I'd book before you leave, you can always cancel (there is a time limit but will not be before you get on board)
mjkacmom Posted April 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2010 We booked a room at CS to get total access to Atlantis. Although we had an awesome time with the 2 kids we brought (ages 9 and 11, left 3 younger ones on the ship), I wouldn't spend that amount of $ with a baby. The slides and "lazy" river were amazing, but to just sit on a beach or go in a pool, I'd do something like the BCH, much less money and closer. The first excursion you listed doesn't give you access to the pools and slides (it's VERY spread out - we spent all day going from one area to the next - exhausting). We are doing same for trip coming up. You had no problem checking in to CS very early? We are arriving to port at 8 a.m. Also, did you take a cab to CS? Did you have to check out before returning to the ship? Thanks!
NJfoodie Posted April 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Take a look at the Bahamas port of call board - there's a lot of info on other beach/pool options. A number of hotels do a day pass for significantly less than Atlantis - the most popular seem to be the Cable beach Sheraton and the Wyndham adjacent to it which are accessible by bus or cab, and the brisitsh colonial hilton which is walking distance from the cruise port. The passes will give you access to their private beach and pools. Some do pass for facilities only, some have a day room rate if they aren't full to give you access to a hotel room. We will be traveling with a baby (14 months) as well and if we decide to do a beach/pool day, I think this is the route we're going to go but we haven't decided yet. I get the impression that the Atlantis aquaventure is their waterpark, which is the only way to have access to the pools short of getting a room at either Atlantis itself or the partnering comfort suites that will give full access. With a baby, I don't expect to be able to take advantage of water rides so we're fine w/ something more low key.
lolakat Posted April 21, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2010 As previous posters have pointed out, only the aqua adventure will give you access to the pools. The Pools/slides/lazy river are amazing. If money is no object this is a great place to visit. However, with the baby you may not be able to get your money's worth so you might consider a cheaper resort or get the Discover Atlantis beach only option.
