Prof 100 Posted April 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2010 We are traveling June 6th on the FOS and now are thinking about bringing a laptop. We will be in a JS; will we have wireless Internet in our room? If so, is it free or will we have to pay a daily fee? I know there is an Internet Cafe, but we are considering bringing a laptop of our own. There certainly are pros and cons to this as I already spend too much time online for my work! Thanks. Rare NorbertsNiece Posted April 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2010 Hi, You have WiFi in your cabin on FOS. $.55 per minute Or pre-paid Internet Packages: 60 Minutes............. $28 90 Minutes............. $38 150 Minutes........... $
Trainman-2 Posted April 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2010 You have to go to the Internet Cafe first and sign in and create a User Name and Password linked to your sea pass account. Once this is done you can sign in on your lap top from your cabin or any Hot Spot on the ship. Guest Relations can give you a list of the Hot Spots. _tinkerbell_ Posted April 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2010 I was going to ask this question too as our laptop is a must, wish it wasn't ! So thank you for your question OP and for the replies. From what i hear connection is slow so think getting a package of minutes could be best. :D
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted April 19, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2010 If you log on late at night or early in the morning it's not too bad...fewer people on line then..... There's a logon screen that lets you see how much time you have left.
Rare EngIceDave Posted April 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2010 MAKE SURE YOU LOG OUT!! They do not automatically log you out when you close the browser or shut off computer. It will only log you out after a certain period of inactivity, like 20 minutes. So if you do not log out, it'll keep racking up time ($$$$) on your account until it automatically logs you out 20 mins or so later

Trainman-2 Posted April 19, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2010 The Ship's System has a bunch of restrictions on it. It downloads pretty well but uploads are restricted. - No video uploads - No multiple Photo uploads. (Photos must be uploaded one at a time) For reasons that nobody has ever been able to explain to me, I can easily download my email in Outlook. However I cannot send email in Outlook. I get an error message that says "550 Relaying Not Authorized"
Prof 100 Posted April 20, 2010 Author #10 Share Posted April 20, 2010 Thanks to all of you for your replies...I don't really want to bring our electronics on board if we can help it...but at least I have an idea of the costs.
