ozziewanderer Posted April 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2010 I am a bit concerned that I can find no current mention of Gem. Is it an ok ship? No matter we are booked! When going ashore is there plenty of time to leave or are there queues? I don't want to waste my time in a line. Should we breakfast first and let everyone else leave or should we be first 'on deck'? Cowdengelly Posted April 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2010 Gem is 90,000 tons of luxury. Dont worry about trivialities like lines. Eat when you want and wander off when you want. There will be lines for the tenders but it is well organised.
cynbar Posted April 21, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2010 On the Adriatic itinerary, you will dock at Athens and Izmir, so no problem with lines there, just swipe your key card and off the ship you go. I believe the plan is to tender at Dubrovnik and maybe Nafplion, but it usually does go smoothly. Usually the plan is to go to a designated spot on the ship, such as the main theater, to pick up numbered tender tickets. Then you go down to board the tender when your number is called, so it's not like standing in a long line. The Gem will sail this itineray for the first time on May 1st, so there will be a lot more info available from returning cruisers after that.
