stoneharborlady Posted April 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2010 I see Western trips go to Labadee, and eastern to Coco Cay. Which do you like better, and why?
yogimax Posted April 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Labadee. One reason is the Haitian vendors have a lot more interesting items that those on Coco Cay

ginger2000 Posted April 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2010 you can never turn down a labadoozie :) or 2 or 3 or 4 ..... Never been to Cococay. Love Labadee - the 8 night eastern on the Liberty is going there next year!
cb at sea Posted April 25, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2010 We enjoy both...as far as "beach days" go, they're about the same! Different look, but the same, relaxing time!
foxtrot2 Posted April 25, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2010 We have been to both & MUCH prefer Coco Cay for many reasons. We love the "island feel" of it, we like the beaches better, and the vendors aren't pushy at all, unlike Labadee where we found them to be very pushy. We like Coco Cay (and their signature drink, Coco Locos!) so much in fact that we're leaving on a cruise in 2 weeks & chose it specifically because it goes to Coco Cay! Good luck in your decision! KoryD Posted April 25, 2010 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Have been in both in the last 6 months and prefer labadee warmer water and a little more to do with the coaster and the zip line. But do agree the vendors are very pushy. Either way both are great
DonnaK Posted April 25, 2010 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2010 We prefer Labadee. It is more scenic, and different from all the other islands that cruise ships usually call on. CocoCay is nice, but typical. While it's true that the vendors on Labadee are pushy, there is a fixed-price Artesan's market behind the Haitan flea market that has much of the same merchandise in a gentler atmosphere. tispwisp Posted April 25, 2010 #9 Share Posted April 25, 2010 Definitely Labadee! Beautiful scenery and a ton of stuff to do. Love watching the people on the zipline and plan to do that the next time we are there! The crafts from the locals are better, but the vendors are indeed pushy. akupupule Posted April 26, 2010 #10 Share Posted April 26, 2010 We like Coco Cay for the "island " feel, snorkeling, etc but it is a hassle to tender , not to mention we have missed it 3 of 5 times because of weather. Labadee you walk off the ship onto the pier...no hassles and little waiting. When you want to return to the ship you walk back on. But having said that, to me, Coco Cay and Labadee are minor ports and not THE reason I would pick either a Western or Eastern Caribbean itinerary. All the other ports are sooo much more interesting. But then Coco Cay and Labadee are beach day stops and as such, are nice.
