It's true, laid there and thought that's strange, no AC, no engine noise all I could hear was snoring? and no wasn't me :D so I said to HI are you awake? she said I am now.I said Listen  nothing, switched on lights..No power, went for a walk went past the Casino and there was a chap polishing all the brass by torch light???? bumped into the Chief security guard and asked what was happening and he said that the Diesels had broke down through a bad load of Heavy oil that they took on board from Italy. he then went on to say they would soon be clear of the dirty oil and true to his word 15 mins later the diesels fired up and we were away...every light in the cabin came on :D (not that I'm scared of the dark)

That took ages to type? hope it saves OK :p

Hi RR

Well typed, I take it for granted having always been a touch typist. I'm not as good as I was once though as these laptop keyboards are too small to spread the fingers correctly.

I hadn't thought that the lights would go off when the engines stopped .

We should never go anywhere without a torch.:D Haven't heard anything about the IE breaking down up to now though, I'll have a squiz on the cruise forum in a bit.

Give me strength my laptop fan is rattling now, I've just had the cover off and cleaned it up but no difference. Looks like a new fan needed. What next.:(

Jan, I was jesting about the typing, I can actually touch type as years as an Engineering manager... just trying to lighten the mood ;) over the last few weeks I have had enough grief to last 1 person a life time, thats why I try and come across a bit jovial.

Sorry you've had some difficult times lately. Hang in there.

I bet Berwyn's in the bar now, he's got to get up at 3.00am for the airport . I'd rather do that though than travel at night as it takes a day or two to get over it and on 7 nights that's not good. That's one good thing about cruises, I think, that they usually do morning flights. I checked out the hotel we're staying in when we go to Turkey and everyone else but us is turning up a 3 in the morning. Not to mention the return flight , whereas we'll be off the ship and in there to pre-book the best restaurant and sign up for all the activities that they do. I really want to have a go at archery, you can stop laughing now.:D Everyone had better take cover when I get hold of the bow and arrow. That should clear the sunbeds, lol.

Last year we flew from Stansted and stayed the night in a Hotel less than 2 mins from the Airport, was good because we also had a 6 am flight, but this year we are flying from Norwich with a 15 00 flight (Norwich) is 1 hr drive for us.

Father in Law is driving :D and parking up for 1 week and picking us up after the second week after.

Lucky ol Berwyn in the Bar? talking of bows n Arrows it's nearly time for my Strongbow diet :p

PS have you noticed it goes quiet at Corry time :D

Is your father-in-law going with you? We're lucky as we only live a 10 minute drive from Manchester airport. The down side is getting those miserable black cab drivers to bring us back on return, they only want long distance and now mini cabs aren't allowed to pick up there. It's the worse part of the holiday and we're actually thinking of catching the bus next time

That's true about corrie, lol. I hadn't noticed, I stopped watching years ago when it started being on all the time.

We were on the cruise starting 9th April and there was problems during this week.

I can't remember which days, but we were meant to leave 1 evening when the captain said we were to be delayed due to engine problems , we finally sailed the next morning, some 18 hours late. Later in the week the same thing was announced but the delay was only for about 4 hours.

This was a bit worrying when we were tod of the 4 day sail home to Falmouth , but all was ok.

I don't know about you but I wouldn't fancy breaking down half way from Madeira to Falmouth. All that bobbing about in the Atlantic.. The passengers would have to tie the bedsheets together to make a sail.:D

Any more news on this please? A bit worrying & I'm already nervous!

Mo.

Hi Mo

Please don't be nervous, if it did break down it was in port and would have been repaired quickly. I've looked all over the internet and found nothing. Take no notice of our silly posts about it.

If you look in the 'Review' section you will find reviews from those of us who have sailed recently which should answer any questions. We went on it for our first cruise round the Canaries and had a great time and from what from I heard it is a good first choice. We had a great time.

Keep in touch as we are all here to help.:):)

Can't drink spirits  makes me fall down :D

Island has now got a full head of steam now heading down towards Gibralter 14 Knots ..well not full steam but she's "Cruising" :p

I should Imagine Berwyn is now watered and fed on the Dream, I see it's still sitting in port awaiting to go, on my gadget on the PC it's 18c now in Palma.

Island escape Tracking

Dream in Port

With these setting you should be able to track both ships ;)

Hi RR

Thanks for that. Berwyn seems to have spent his first day composing his review, now he's getting requests for photos !:eek:. I am definitely not spending my holiday doing that, lol.

Looks like I'm going to have to get a new cooling fan for the laptop, it's rattling away. (Hong Kong here I come, for the fan that is!!).
