Weather in mid-January for Panama Repo cruise?

I was wondering if anybody could report on the type of weather they encountered transitioning the Panama Canal and doing the Mexican Riviera in mid January? We'll be stopping at Cartagena, Costa Rica and 3 stops in Mexico...I am trying to figure out what to pack and if I need to shop!

Thanks to all that can help!

We were on the Star's PC on January 15, 2010. It was VERY warm and humid. I believe it was 97 and sunny the day we went thru the canal. When we approched the Gatun Locks at 7am it was already in the upper 80's. We wore shorts the entire time we were gone. In Miami it was in the upper 70's when we left and was the same in LA when we left to head home. The real bummer was it was a whole 6 degrees when we landed at the Indy airport.

The reason I ask is we visited Cancun in early January this year and it was downright cool...60's and windy. I wished I had brought more long pants and such...will I have the same problem when in Mexico or is the MR warmer than Cancun?
