What age does Carnival allow in disco at night?

Traveling with 18 yr old with 17 yr old friend. Can they go in the disco at night? What can they do together, since 18 year old is too old for teens program.

Many of our ships feature lounges which are dedicated to both age groups. Some of these lounges feature video monitors with Playstation 2 or X-Boxes, as well as comfortable seating. High energy dance floors with state of the art lighting and sound have also become a mainstay in many of our "Teen Only" lounges.

 

Due to these programs onboard, it is Carnival's policy to restrict anyone under the age of 18 years old into the main disco after 11 PM. Casino guests must be 18 years of age to play the tables and the slot machines. Guests under the age of 18 are not permitted in the casino. Guests under the age of 16 are not permitted in the spa and gym. Guests between the ages of 16 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. "

 

The 17 year old has to leave the disco by 10:59:59 They can eat together, they can go to the pool together, they can play basketball and mini golf together. The 17 year old is not allowed in the casino and the 18 year old is not allowed in Club O2.

However, there are plenty of other places they can go at night TOGETHER.

 

Piano bar, cover band lounge....etc. No age limits on these...

 

In fact, the disco and the casino are the only two places they can't go together....

Funny the FAQ you quoted said this but when I asked a question about my kids using the fitness center and spa a couple of weeks ago I was quoted this FAQ:

Had this problem it stinks, 2 7 yr olds 2 18 yr olds couldn't do basically anything together. yeah they can go to those other ramdom "bars" but they aren't fun, the last 2 cruises I went on )2 weeks ago and 2 yrs ago, no one under 18 could go in the disco after 10 NO EXCEPTiOns.

Under 12 (6 months (1 year on transatlantic cruises) - 11 years 364 days) not allowed at all. 12-16 allowed as long as they are accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Im confused on this gym thing too. I dont care about the spa, I just want to work out a bit. I am 14, and my grandmother would go with me, but I dont know if I could go in. Im not a fitness freak or anything, I just like to have a lot of leg muscle. 250 lbs able to move and counting :)

I think the one FAQ is for teens reading it and letting them know they cant come into the gym alone if they are under 16.

 

The other is more general saying that 12-16 is allowed with parents.

 

In practice, if the kid comes in and doesnt act like he is goofing around, the staff wont say a word.

I see the FAQ you're talking about on the Carnival website that states 12 - 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The age thing presented a problem 2 years ago on the Ecstasy for my then 19 and 16 y/o DD's. At night it was hard for them to find things to do together since they checked ID at the disco(would not let my 16 y/o in even with me), and she could not go into the casino. They did try some of the other places and did some of the late shows, but there were times when the 19 y/o wanted to do the things she was allowed to do. Didn't ruin the fun of the cruise, but was still a little issue.

 

This year for our cruise on the Conquest my younger daughter is now 18, so will not be an issue for them. She even had to use age as a criteria for what friend she brought. One of her friends she had considered bringing would still be 17 at the time of the cruise, so she chose a friend who was already 18 who will be able to do the same things she can do.

As much as I sympathize with you where do you suggest they draw the line - unfortunately they drew the line where it was not good for you but may have been for others. There really should be something for 18-21s but then the 17 would still be left out but then they have their own group.

Carnival is very strict about letting anyone into the Disco if not 18 years of age the date of sailing. My DD was 18 yrs. on our cruise 2 years ago and had a 17 yr old friend with her. They stood guard at the door and wouldn't let them in, not even if I went with them. They meant business. It was a little inconvenient, but they found things to do. Glad we are all past the age of 18 now.
