Best place to view 5/14 shuttle launch?

We will be disembarking on the morning of Friday May 14th and would like to view the shuttle launch before we begin our long journey back to Indiana. :(

Once we begin our trip home, we will be heading north out of Cape Canaveral towards Jacksonville; is there a recommended viewing area anywhere along that route? Years ago some friends took us to a nice spot and we saw a night launch (very cool!) but we don't remember where we were. Any suggestions?

traffic out of the area after a launch is a bear ....

pick a site well on the north side of the viewing area unless you want to sit in bumper to bumper for a few hours . . . .

That is what we are trying to avoid, the bumper to bumper traffic after the launch. How far north do you suggest planning to go? We get off the ship first thing in the morning, so we should have plenty of time.
