Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has ever rented one of the electric cars that seats 4 people? If so, what could you tell me about them? How fast do they go and did you get a map of Key West. Are they easy to drive and easy to park them? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Has anyone ever used the electric car rental on Best of Key West.com?

If so, please share your experience. We are unsure if we want to book in advance or wait until we dock.

I was wondering the same thing...prices, do they give you a map. etc!

They're really just golf carts for the most part with 4 or 6 seats. They go at a reasonable, but not breakneck speed and are pretty easy to manuver. Only caution is that you'll have to pay to park everywhere you decide to stop and get out at the same rate as cars. Believe streetside is $1.75 an hour or something close to that.

Actually the GEM cars http://www.gemcar.com/ are street legal vehicles that top out around 30 mph or so.

 

Metered parking is .25 for 10 mins or $1.50 per hour. Several areas have parking pay boxes that cover many spaces but the rate is the same.
