clamar Posted May 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2010 We will be in Barcelona on September 11 and I believe this is a national holiday. If so, how will this affect us as tourist ? Also, could someone suggest restaurants near the Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona. Thank you. Claire:)
riffatsea Posted May 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2010 Stores for shopping may be closed. Not lots of good choices near that hotel.Basicly shopping center food or perhaps hotel restaurants. Take the metro or tram closer into the center of the city or along the seafront to find better food. Agua is one restaurant further along the seafront. clamar Posted May 8, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted May 8, 2010 Thanks for the info. We knew the hotel was not within the city limits but are staying there with points. We will put the Auqa on our list.;) Claire
cookie115 Posted May 10, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2010 We will also be in Barcelona on Septmber 11th. Are there any special activities/parades/events that take place that might be of interest?
riffatsea Posted May 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2010 It is kind of a somber holiday commemorating a defeat in battle and loss of independence so no parades. There is a laying of a wreath to remember martyrs nearish to the Picasso Museum. Souvenir type shops may be open but others will be closed and museums may close at noon.(info gotten from a Destination Expert on Trip Adviser)
