Hickman Catheter/Infusion Pump

Does anyone have experience traveling with a Hickman Catheter/Infusion Pump? I am new to this and an wondering what it will be like going through security at the airport and onto the ship. And advice or words of wisdom will be appreciated.

My daughter deos not have a Hickman cath, but she does have an infusaport cath. As she is in a wheelchair, we choose to be wanded rather than remove her from her chair and cause her discomfort. When they wand her it will beep and the attendant will look to me and I always tell them it is a port. I have a card that I carry that has the style and size of her port along with how much heparin to instill. If you can get ahold of a simular card, or even a perscription from your doctor that will work. Your cath is more obvious than my DD's as hers in under her skin. Security is used to passengers with a variety of issues and a knowledgable, quick answer is what they are looking for. We have never had a problem at the ship. be sure to let special services know that you are traveling with one.
