Lily429 Posted May 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Does anyone have experience with a one-day stay at Atlantis and/or the Atlantis shore excursion? We don't know which to do....ship is in port overnight so we literally have all day in Nassau. Torn between the Atlantis Aquaventure with shallow water excursion or just booking a one night stay for access to Atlantis for the day and evening. We have a 7 year old who may or may not actually participate in the shallow water adventure......so it's a gamble on that.
lurkernj Posted May 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 14, 2010 Welcome!! You might want to check out the "port of call" section down below on the main page. Click on "Bahamas" and there are lots of threads about Atlantis. There is a hotel across the street, the Comfort suites, which some people reserve in order to obtain Atlantis wristbands. Its more affordable than the atlantis rooms, or even the wristbands themselves sometimes. Also look for some discount codes for this hotel. Jacky4 Posted May 14, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 14, 2010 We booked a room for one night before Carnival offered Aquaventure. It cost us $400.00 (regular room, only 4 pp per room, only 4 wrist bands) but we had access to all the hotel amenities. Unless the room rates are cheaper I would do the excursion with Carnival. Remember Atlantis is HUGE, we never went back to our room after we checked in because it was so far away from the pool and water slides. They wouldn't let us in the ocean because the tides were too rough. The food lines were so long that by the time you got to the front of the line half the items on the menu were out. It's not close enough to the ship to go back and forth so why pay for dinner there ($$$, a cheese pizza cost $25.00) when you can eat for free on the ship. We did go to the casino but you can't bring kids there. Don't get me wrong Atlantis was awesome and we had lots of fun but I don't think we would do it again. Lily429 Posted May 16, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted May 16, 2010 thanks for the info.......this cruise is all about our daughter which is why we chose the itinerary. I was worried that the room would be far away plus there is no pick-up from the port for hotel guests, so we are going with the cruise shore excursion :) Is the port really close enough to go back and forth? That would be great! Did you use the ships "taxi" to go back and forth?
