derf5585 Posted February 1, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2005 PS. Still looking for spell checker What you can do is compose the post on Word and then do a spell check and then "Copy" and "Paste" it into your post.
Ddddddave99 Posted February 1, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2005 Who wants to go to the trouble of cut/paste? If I misspell, I'd hope you all would let it pass. Nextel has a global phone. Try them.

Have a new grandbaaby coming due during cruise plus may have to stay in constant contact for work. PS. Still looking for spell checker By the time you pay for the sat phone rental and a block of airtime, you might as well just have them call you on the ship. The calls are a lot more resonable than they were. But.... if you really have to have one - http://www.globalcomsatphone.com/rentals.html http://www.telestial.com/satellite_phone_rental.htm ( I have used them ) ( they have free incoming calls ) http://www.globalcellularrental.com/cell-phone-rental-services-satellite-rental.php Notes - Choose a service that uses the Motorolla 9500 - its MUCH smaller than the Erickson ( that has the 5 mile high antenna ). freddiebud Posted February 1, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2005 i don't want this to sound like a commercial but... i work for a satellite communications company. you can rent phones by the day, week, month. and buy a block of minutes. it can be quite inexpensive. i would suggest iridium service over globalstar, just because of the coverage. the above links are good. you can also check wcclp.com and roadpost.com. by the way, the motorola 9500 has been replaced by the iridium 9505 and 9505a, both very small devices. Boston6 Posted February 1, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2005 Don't know if $$ is an issue here but the cheapest way to stay in contact is probably to buy internet access time on board and use e-mail.
