numbersix Posted May 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2010 We'll be on the Ruby Princess in August, stopping in livorno on a Wednesday, scheduled to dock at 0600. Does anybody know, in general, how soon after that we can leave the ship? We want to catch the earliest train to Florence that we can. Thanks! KirkNC Posted May 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2010 Usually it will be right around the time the ship is scheduled to dock so in your case 6:00. No guarantee, I have gotten off ships before the scheduled dock time and on occassion when things don't go right later than the dock time. chipmaster Posted May 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 19, 2010 YMMV but we found that once they docked the gangway was manned and available for disembarkation, the earliest has much more to do with when they dock, often it is even early than stated. Lucky for us our timing was limited far more by when the first attraction opened than the rush to get somewhere. Good luck! CoralReef Posted May 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2010 Our ship was scheduled to dock in Livorno at 7:00 AM, and that's when we got off-- 7:00 AM on the dot. We were able to get off at the scheduled port time in every port but Palermo, where we were more than an hour late in getting cleared. My impression from the ship's crew is that late clearance is not too surprising for Sicily, but uncommon for northern Italy.
numbersix Posted May 20, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted May 20, 2010 Thanks, everybody, for your help. It sounds good for us getting off fast, and early...life is too short to dawdle on the ship when Florence beckons!:) Kevin
