Zipline footwear question

Recommended Posts

My DGF wants to know if anyone has used the shoes that RCL has for the Zipline and what the quality is of them?

She really wants to go on it and hates wearing tennis shoes, let alone taking a pair with her just for the Zipline; so taking socks and using their shoes was a plus....but not if the shoes are nasty. (borderline germaphobe)

All help is appreciated

Well, she could take along a few pairs of socks and change them after each day of Ziplining. Put the dirty socks in a "dirty laundry" bag and wash them at home. It's not like her feet will touch the shoes, only her socks.

I'm DGF :)

I'm not really concerned about the shoes being nasty, just wondered if they have like every size or are there just a few to pick from?

Also I wondered if anyone has worn flats. Like ballet flat type shoes. No laces or anything but they're closed toe. I'd def. bring these along if they were okay to wear on it.

I wore a pair of Toms shoes (plain flat canvas shoes, with no laces) and they told me that I needed to change my shoes. They had a large selection of different size shoes that were similar to steel toe shoes so that you don't hit your toes when making your landing.

I wore them just the distance to come back around to the start and took them off. It's nice that they have them or else I would have been out of luck having not brought tennis shoes!

I wore Lands End trekkers, and at first they weren't going to let me zipline with those, but then examined them more closely and said ok.

I wouldn't want to wear shoes provided by RCI.....even with socks, even with knowing my skin wouldn't be touching the shoes. I'm not a germaphobe, but that just creeps me out.

I would take a pair of tennis shoes if the zipline is something you really want to do.

Just my two cents.

I assume they are particular about your footwear for safety's sake. At the end of the Zipline, you have to "run" onto the platform where a crew member will stop you, and this involves having sturdy footwear that are not going to hamper your landing in any way.

I'd agree - if the Zipline is something you really want to do and you will not be wearing the footwear provided, you'll need to bring your own runners and socks.

You could wear your sneakers, and pack other shoes. Since your sneakers probably weight the most out of all your shoes, it would be lighter on the suitcase.

That's what we are doing on our 7-3-10 cruise

Thanks for the info! I think I may just wear their shoes. I'm very anti tennis shoes unless I'm at the gym, so wearing them even to the airport will depress me!

I was thinking about getting a real small light pair of those "ked" type shoes... found cute ones for $7, but they may say they're not sturdy enough, based on what some said... so I'll survive with theirs.
