**Golden Princess May 14, 2011 - Vancouver To Seattle**

We did the Coastal 6 days on the Golden last year and we loved our window suite so much we had to book this. The bonus is we live in Victoria and will be able to disembark there rather than go through the disembarkation dance in Seattle. Breakfast at Sabitinis' every morning is a delight. Hope the same Maitre D is aboard as he was outstanding. I see at least one other in a window suite.

We are Pat and Karen from Victoria and this will be our 4th to Alaska although we have not been to Alaska for about 6 years. Hope to meet you all.

Hi, Kyana

Welcome to the group. We are Tom and Mary from the Houston area. We are also in a Window Suite and must be the "one other" that you see booked. I sailed solo in a Window Suite on the Caribbean Princess in May. I LOVED the location and the perks. Just a few steps down the hall and down the stairs to the International Cafe for snacks and coffee. A few steps upstairs to the Promenade Deck and the Casino.

As we'll be neighbors, I hope to get to know you better as the weeks fly by.

Mary

OMG, I didn't know he was on Survivor this season. Can't imagine that he will last long....:p

Supposedly, he's a big fan and tried to get on for years. Was turned down repeatedly due to fitness. He lost 30 lbs. and trained before he was finally cast.

I think this season is "oldies" with life experience vs. "kids" with more strength/better fitness.

As I said, I've never watched before, but want to see at least a few episodes with JJ.

Looks like we'll have company in the Window Suite corridor. I looked today and 3 out of the 7 are now booked....

You may get "hooked". It is very entertaining and I have been watching since the first season :D

Mary, which deck are you on? Are you close to the aft area with us?

We're on Deck 7 behind the Front Desk... 7 new suites with windows only. Built during the refurb last year. I thought I might not like being on a lower floor, but it's VERY convenient. The full suite perks outweigh not having a balcony for us. For this cruise the pricing is quite comparable to a mini. We plan to buy a spot in the Sanctuary for the entire week to give us an outdoor venue.

I watched long enough to see JJ throwing-up... TMI for me.

Wow you folks really know how to "pick um"! So far we are not football fans or survivors... but we do enjoy the ocean, MDR selections, and exploring the ports. Hope we still fit in for the cruise portion of the fun!!

Happy Friday, everyone. I think we have 35 more Fridays to go till our cruise is here!!!!! Not that I am counting or anything...

This weekend is going to be fun for us. Kids have dance classes on Saturday and then football party Sunday. Unfortunately, the coastal fog has once again set in here in San Diego so it's been too cool to swim.

What's everyone else doing?

Hey all...I took a rare Friday off today, as I'm usually off on Thursday's, and have been quite productive. While I work all weekend, I'm looking forward to watching the Gators whip Tennessee yet again:) I'm also excited for the tasty matchup between Peyton and Eli on Sunday night. Even Meg is excited for that one, but only because she finds the Manning brothers quite attractive haha.

Heard back from Kerry yesterday so we officially booked our Harv and Marv excursion. Another check mark on my list:D

What's the difference between Harv and Marv and Capt Larry (Orca Enterprises) that used to be so wildly popular on these boards? We did Capt Larry in 2002 and had an amazing time but I don't know if things have changed...

Have sailed with Captain Larry and Orca Enterprises on the last 2 trips so we're just going to change it up this time and see how we enjoy it.

I wouldn't have a problem booking with Orca Enterprises any time :D

Sure you fit in! Don't take us too seriously here when we just talk about things other than Alaska. Just passing the time until we can book the rest of our excursions ;)

That's what we're all waiting for... and dreaming about! It's just a little over 7 months away and we're all set.

Getting to know each other between now and then. That's half the fun for me.

Speaking of the ocean.... Those with cruises to Bermuda this week are getting their fare share of it!

Mary, I was just reading about one NCL cruise that was supposed to go to Bermuda and is now going to Port Canaveral and Nassau :( That would be disappointing!

Yeah that is a bummer. I wonder why they couldn't get into port of Charleston or something. But I guess that's nature and the risk of cruising in September...

I read about that one too... Would not be my choice, that's for sure.

I wonder why they didn't choose a Canada/New England itinerary somewhat like the 7 days the Caribbean Princess is doing right now? Much better, IMO... The Veendam still hasn't announced if they will have an alternate itinerary. I'm interested to see what HAL chooses, if anything.

Here's a new topic... Anyone sailing between now and May? If so, what's the scoop? I want to dream along with you!
