Monaco Grand Prix

Hi, yes we have just got back from the GP and Cannes film festival this year.

We were going to book grandstand tickets in stand K, which is casino square, and has a lovely view. However, we decided to pull out the stops, as we aren't going to be going every year and had a hospitality package, it was more than the grandstand seating, but we were covered whatever the weather, and had views of 70% of the track as well as food and drinks all day. We were so close to the start/finish we saw all the stars and drivers.

It was well worth the extra, and a massively memorable time!

Been to Monaco twice but not just at race weekend. I have followed GP racing for 40 years and Monaco is one of great events on the calender. Not known for a lot of passing because of the tight course; people go for the thrill of just being there. The views of the water, the prerace events and the chance to see a prince give the winner his trophy is worth the trip.Remember when you buy you seat you are stuck there so look at the course and chose correctly.

I see this is an old thread, but here's my reply in case anyone is reading who's planning for next year.

We were on a cruise (Silversea) in May 2011 that stayed in Monaco for the two days (Sat/Sun) of the GP. For race day on Sunday, we booked tickets for the roof terrace of the Hotel de Paris. They were expensive but included a luncheon and unlimited drinks (alcoholic and non-) from 12 noon to about 6pm. The views from the terrace across the Principality and especially the harbour were amazing. But we didn't actually see much of the race, as we had a limited view of the track from above. We could only see the cars going past the area we were in. We certainly heard it though :D

I'm not remotely interested in Formula 1, but the whole day was simply fantastic and I've even suggested to my husband that I'd like to do it again sometime. Soon!

Ravenscroft thank you for your response, did you book the Hotel de Paris direct or via an agency, if so I would be interested in who as so many list various packages for the GP Sunday.

Is the roof terrace the same as the garden terrace?

Thanks in advance

Hi Haworth. The roof terrace and garden terrace were different although people who had the roof terrace tickets were able to go down to the garden terrace, but not vice versa. I'd say the roof terrace is better for the view.

If you happened to see the BBC 1 coverage of the 2011 Monaco GP they actually filmed Eddie Jordan, David Coulthard and Jake Surname ? up there in the evening enjoying a glass of Champagne and having a chat about the view. The roof terrace inside lounge had the BBC 1 coverage on and the piece was right at the beginning of the programme, all of us who were up there were very excited to watch it.

I will have to ask my husband about who he booked with, it definitely wasn't direct with the hotel. I'll get back to you as soon as he's found the information.

Howarth, we were in the Winston Churchill Suite and roof terrace. Hubby booked with senategrandprix.com. We only got tickets for the Sunday but you can do Saturday too. The initial price you see on the webpage :

http://senategrandprix.com/race-viewing/winston-churchill-suite#0

is for both days. Costs a bit less to do just Sunday.

If you have any more questions I'll be happy to answer them if I can. I've attached one of the pics I took on the day. It does come up a bit bigger if you click it.

I want to do it again next year but I doubt it will ever happen again. I can dream of a lottery win I suppose:D

Ships anchored in Monaco Bay in addition to ours were Azamara, Windstar and Star Clipper.
