Meals Costs?

We are booked on the Diamond 7 day cruise + 5 day tour ( 1 night Anchorage, 2 night Mt McKinley, 2 night Denali) Aug 2011.

No meals are included with the land tour.

I can upgrade to Connoisseur tour that includes:-

Anchorage/Mt Mckinley - breakfast, dinner at Mt View Restaurant,

Mt Mckinley - breakfast, dinner

Mt Mckinley/Denali - breakfast, dinner at Music of Denali theater

Denali - breakfast, lunch on TWT tour, dinner at King Salmon Restaurant

Denali/Whittier - breakfast, lunch

The upgrade would cost $1,017 for 2 more.

Is this upgrade worth it? Has anybody eaten at these places.

Yes, we have and they are somewhat expensive but the cost of the Connoisseur Tour is excessive.

Quick math tells me that for the meals you pointed out the package would cost you $46 per person, per meal on average. I do not think that you will spend $46 each for dinner and not that kind of money for sure at breakfast. Since lunch is on your own either way I didn’t figure that in.

I would not purchase the upgrade at that price.

Very overpriced.

Here's are the menus from Princess McKinley/Denali where you will have the majority of your meals.

Unless you get a boatload of booze FREE, save your money and pay for your own meals.

There are other places to eat rather than being stuck exclusively in "Princessland".

After eating until you blow up for a week, you may just want to eat an inexpensive hamburger and fries while on land. I'd do my own food. You have control. If you want to have a nice meal, do it. If you want a casual inexpensive sandwich, ok. Alternatively if you are a true foody, go for it.
