brunolvr Posted February 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2005 Has anyone walked to Creek Street and taken the "funicular tram" up the hill and walked to the Totem Heritage Center and the Deer Mountain Tribal Hatchery & Eagle Center? Is it worth it?
dogladyjw Posted February 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2005 I walked Creek Street and it was worth it. You can see salmon running under the boardwalk and Dolly's house is great. There are a lot of little specialty botiques along the boardwalk if you like that sort of thiing.
Cruisin' granny Posted February 2, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2005 Walked up through Creek Street and walked all the way up to the hatchery and museum. Walked back down and shopped Creek Street while the hubby watched the salmon fishing off the bridge. Yes, the hatchery is worth a visit and the museum is definitely worth it. So the walk wouldn't be too far or strenuous for an "out of shape granny"? (me not you)
momthecruisedirector Posted February 3, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2005 How was his salmon fishing off the bridge? Was he successful?
Budget Queen Posted February 3, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2005 A better loop is to go up Park to the Totem Heritage Museum through City Park and back to town down Deermont. Gives a wonderful look at residential life. I make the walk every trip, also consider back down the married mans trail. :) Pick up a walking tour map at the dock visitor center. Cruisin' granny Posted February 3, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 3, 2005 This "out of shape" granny did it with a very bad back that year. I was on pain pills that did not even touch the pain and we did it in a drizzling rain. I figured I'd get back on the ship, take another pill and wash it down with a huge martini. Didn't do it the second time to Ketchikan but may do it again this year.
