Can a 9 year old do a Manatee swim with a grandparent watching (but not in water)

I am really hoping this activity would work for my mother and daughter to do together. Also if the Oasis gets in at 8(there time) could a 10:00 reservation work. Any thoughts?

Not a ship excursion as we will book directly with Dolphin Discovery. Actually I called them and they said yes that she could do the manatee encounter but this is not what their info online says. At the Dolphin Discovery website it says that under 12 has to have an adult companion with them. When I questioned them they said the website was not correct. I was hoping actual experience could resolve this for me.
