drink coupons

I was thinking of getting the drink coupons too. If I ordered a fancy drink that was more expensive, do they just charge the difference on your S&S card, or do they add gratuties too?

Just off the Miracle and on the bar coupon it was stated that you can trade in the 4 coupons for one bottle of wine but since we order a wine package we had different drinks and all the bars that we present the coupon took the coupon with no extra money. We drank mixed drinks or Heinikan (sp) draft

Are drink coupons applicable to buckets of beer as well? I might as well start stockpiling them now for our August sailing!

Yes! One card of 4 will buy 1 bucket of beer. You can order 2 different kinds if you like and they are in 16oz. bottles.:)

How much you save depends on what you order. We always buy 3-4 sheets to take with us. It helps to prepay the Sign and Sail card a bit. DH likes to be able to just pull one out in the casino for his whiskey sour.

Can the drink coupons that you buy before you cruise be used for a glass of wine? TIA

We always buy them and have bought them for years. We use them for pina coladas and similar mixed drinks. They will never cost you more than buying the drink onboard. We by 8 (2 sheets of 4 coupons) and for the same drink, in the same glass, 3 things occur. They are worth $5.95 face value.

On prior cruises 1 drink=1 coupon (same drink, same glass)

Once last Oct on the Victory we were charge $3.75 extra (equal to the posted cost of the drink minus $5.95 coupon value) The other 7 coupons, the same drink was 1 coupon = 1 pina coloada.

On the Dream last month: 8 coupons and 8 pina coladas

3 coupons were taken at face value 1 coupon for 1 drink

3 coupons were taken with $3.95 added for the difference

2 coupons were taken with $1.95 added for the difference

Same drink/same glass/ same posted price.

Overall: 3 times we broke even

2 times we got a $2.00 break

3 times we save $3.95 when it was taken at face value.

The aft pool bar charged the most ($3.95 twice)

Casino bar once gave us 1 coupon = one drink, the other time charged us $3.95)

Dining room twice gave us 1 coupon= 1 drink and 1 time charge $1.95 extra.

We do it for convenience and to lighten the final S & S bill. We feel we are no farther behind if we have to pay the difference and sometime, we don't get charged full price for the drink with the coupon.

.....as in everything Carnival...the most consistent thing is inconsistency.

..but we love Carnival and don't sweat the small stuff. You won't have any problem if you buy the coupons like we do to pre-pay some expenses and you do not get mad if you pay the full price for a drink. Like us, you might just get a few dollars off some of your drinks but you will never lose money on them.

Yes, but you will be charged for the difference.

Everyone may be interested to know that I was on the 5/23-5/30 Victory sailing and when I picked my drink tickets up from the hostess stand in the dining room on the first night, I was told that even though the tickets had a pre-printed value of $5.25, they were actually worth $5.75 each. I ordered frozen drinks all week ($7.25 each) and $5.75 was deducted from the price and then I was charged for the difference plus gratuity on my sign and sail card.

Yes, the first night at dinner, I just asked our waiter and he took care of it.

We drink quite a bit of beer and other drinks on a 6 day cruise, we bought 11 cards and still spent about $100 on S & S, basically it saves you the 15% gratuity, but I like the fact I have already paid for it.

When do you get them, if purchased? Is it at dinner the first night? Is this the same on all ships?

yes you get them the first night in the dining room.

We usually buy them but didnt for our last cruise... when we saw our sail and sign   I have already started buying them for our next cruise. I would rather buy a 2-3 strips a month then have a huge bill to pay at the end.

Only once have we been asked to pay the difference.
