snowy owl Posted June 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2010 I don't know how it is but we are staying at the Holiday Inn in midtown. 440 57th street. It looks kinda close. When my husband went out there he when in and got to see a room he said it was nice. We cruise 6/16 on the Miracle. I'll try to post about the hotel when we get back. Crazy Gramps Posted June 5, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 5, 2010 Do you guys have any idea what it costs to park a car in NYC? Check it out before you drive. Gramps
cruisin07family Posted June 5, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2010 When we cruised the Miracle we stayed at a nice hotel in NJ before the cruise. The hotel had a shuttle into Manhattan and we explored NYC one day but the day of the cruise we drove to the pier and parked there for the week. Not a bad drive at all and parking at the pier isn't too expensive and mighty convenient when you return and you're just ready to head home. Any help on this matter is appreciated. Thanks!!:) Regretfully I don't know of any hotels in Manhattan that will let you park for the cruise. The pier-parking is $30/night, $240 for your cruise & is well worth it for the convenience and safety of your car while you're cruising. With regard to hotel suggestions: The Sherry Netherland is just lovely & overlooks Central Park. http://www.sherrynetherland.com/ A small "boutique" hotel, practically in the middle of Times Square is The Casablanca Hotel, which has surprisingly good rates considering it's location. http://www.casablancahotel.com/ Both of these are located no more than 10-12 minutes from the port. The Casablanca is slightly closer. I just got off the beautiful Miracle and can honestly tell you that you're going to have a fabulous cruise! ;)
browneyedwoman Posted June 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2010 I always use Priceline whenever I go to NYC. We bid for a 4*midtown west hotel with Priceline and got the Warwick hotel for $157 a night. We'll be taking Amtrak up into NYC so we don't have to worry about a car. Could you take Amtrak into the city so you don't have to drive your car?
lisalisa143 Posted June 6, 2010 #7 Share Posted June 6, 2010 We stayed at Hotel Edison, Time Square. You can see the port from the higher floors of the hotel. It was a good location & took taxi to port. Very reasonable cab ride ...like $10.00 total for 4...including luggage. :D

family cruisers Posted June 6, 2010 #9 Share Posted June 6, 2010 You might also try Jersey City , NJ The Westin, Hyatt and doubletree . The Hyatt is on the hudson overlooking NYC and the westin and double tree are across the street from the harbor. Just across the river to NYC.
