Traveler353 Posted June 18, 2010 #1001 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Ok, I’ve been lurking all week, but haven’t had anything to add. Now I do :pJust got off the phone with my PVP. PVP called to see if I was ready to book b/c silly me logged on this week to see the phantom dates (I usually don’t log in b/c these phone calls freak me out ). Our conv. Went something last this: PVP: I see you logged on recently, is there anything I can help you with? Me: I’m just looking around, waiting for the Magic US homeport to be released. PVP: It already has, she will be going to New Orleans, which surprised me …based on bookings…. Yada yada yada….. Galveston deserves it. Me: New Orleans, really??? I thought it hasn’t been released yet? PVP: (back peddling, big time) Yes, that’s right, they are still debating where she will go, last I heard was either Galveston or New Orleans. Now, I’m not saying PVP knows what is going on. Just thought I’d fan the flames a bit :D Funniest post of the day, thank you, LOL People here have such imaginations. They could write standup comedy routines.

ChinaClipper Posted June 18, 2010 #1015 Share Posted June 18, 2010 For the heck of it, I compiled a list of the scheduled cruises from New Orleans since 2002. You'll see steady growth up until August 2005, then a huge decline, followed by further steady growth. I'd expect the growth to continue as long as the hurricanes leave us alone. Also, the list below assumes that Conquest and Ecstasy are coming here...which seems to be the most likely scenario. The list below shows ship, ship capacity, length of cruise, and if it was seasonal or year-round. 2002 Carnival Inspiration (2052); 7-day, year round 2003-2004 Carnival Conquest (2974); 7-day, year round Carnival Holiday (1486); 4/5 day, year round Norwegian Dream (1748); 7-day, seasonal (November – March) Grandeur of the Seas (2446); 7-day, seasonal (November – April) 2005 (through August) Carnival Conquest (2974); 7-day, year-round Carnival Sensation (2052); 4/5-day; year-round Norwegian Sun (2008); 7-day, seasonal (November – April) Grandeur of the Seas (2446); 7-day, seasonal (November – April) 2006 - 2007 Carnival Fantasy (2052); 4/5-day, year round Norwegian Sun (2008); 7-day, seasonal (November – April) Grandeur of the Seas (2446); 7-day, seasonal (November – April) 2008 Carnival Fantasy (2052); 4/5-day, year round Norwegian Spirit (2018); 7-day, seasonal (November – April) 2009 Carnival Triumph (2758); 4/5/7-day, year-round Norwegian Spirit (2018); 7-day, seasonal (November – April) 2010 Carnival Triumph (2758); 4/5/7-day, year-round Norwegian Spirit (2018); 7-day, year round (starting November, 2010) 2011 Carnival Triumph (2758); 4/5/7-day (through Fall, 2011) Carnival Conquest (2974); 7-day, year round (starting Fall, 2011) Carnival Ecstasy (2052); 4/5-day, year round (starting Fall, 2011) Norwegian Spirit (2018); 7-day, year round Voyager of the Seas (3114); 7-day, seasonal (November – April)

tallyho8 Posted June 18, 2010 #1020 Share Posted June 18, 2010 And if you look at the cruise schedules for the Port of New Orleans and the Port of Galveston (which are subject to change) you will see that Galveston has 11 cruises scheduled in December 2011 and New Orleans has 15 scheduled for December 2011. If a ship does a 3/4 schedule, it will do eight cruises in four weeks. If a ship is on a 4/5/5 schedule, it will only do six cruises in four weeks. So the number of cruises is not that telling. New Orleans is also occasional a port stop for other cruise lines.
