T-n-C: They failed to mentioned that they are very nice people, too. :D (Hi, G&J!!)

Adding my own Cheers and Bon Voyage wishes right here as well. Still bummed beyond bummed it didn't materialize for me to be on this sailing with you both. Would have been fun to 'break in' the new line together.

Enjoy - Enjoy - Enjoy!!

Crackpipe Don :) :)

Thanks Don --- but be careful, the "powers that be" at your place of work might not get the "Crackpipe" joke...

Hi Tom,

I corrected my typos in my earlier email and filled you in in many, many more perks but lost it being over my editing time. If you look at the NCL brochure or call the agent it will describes all the perks of the DELUXE OWNER'S SUITE - all two of them onboard. They may let my last email go through...I hope so. The private pool and lounge for the OS is to die for and the rooftop garden with a private key and private bar any only exclusive with Cagney's for br and dinner and they give you a free lobster night there also usually. And they gave us a free dinner at the beautiful French Restaurant and several entrees.

Enjoy your cruise both of you...you deserve it and let us know how you like it.

As you can see below NCL Deluxe OS was my 'fav' cruise (Butler) but it lists our other really fav fun and affordable cruise line moreso.

Cheers to you and Cheryl. We love and learn from your posts. Nice to meet you. We are Geri & Jack Scott and Interline people. from Ottawa, Canada.

Happy sailing!

Geri & Jack

By the way...the private concierge makes all your reservations etc. and the many electronic perks and coffee expresso etc. machine in the room is great. The Suite is only for two people and we got a terrific deal as they were empty. The patio hut and garden right out your room is to die for. huge space.....full view at front of ship circular suite. Cheers.

Lots of good info!! Really looking forward to it... and since Don likes you guys, we do to!! :D

You're pretty special too, Don and a lot of fun. Remember the M&G with the Canadian CD and the great piano player in the piano bar and Linda singing? What a great time we had.

Who can forget the Splendor B2B rocky rolly trip we had. Those were the days.

Keep the B2B C Magic cruise open with us "if" and "when". Have you heard anymore where the TA might be? Can't wait. Love your humour (spelt correctly) :-)

Cheers my friend,

Geri & Jack

Hi Tom,

Thank you for nice compliments. Have a wonderful time and sooooo wish we were going on this cruise. But we are waiting for the C Magic to come to the U.S.A. and do a B2B next year. Keep us posted. Look at the private courtyard and order your meals there if you get that priviledge with your cabin. And visit the private deck above if it is like the N Gem.

We just sailed t the Liberty for $299 for 7 days IS cabin but got upgraded to Ocean View right above water level- quiet and fantastic! For that price it was fine and loved the Liberty. We spend most time aft at tables and pool and about on cheaper cruises and not in room too much.

But we usually book the 8S Bal mostly with the Spa included. Retirees here so with 9 cruises in one year have to conserve. LOL!

Happy Sailing,

Geri & Jack

Keep us posted.

Cagney's for breakfast and lunch, every day, absolutely.

Eggs Benedict and/or Steak and eggs for breakfast, and shrimp cocktail and anything else for lunch! (Steaks in Cagney's are cooked to perfection!)

For dinner, have your butler bring it to you in your suite! You can order from any restaurant on ship and have it delivered. No lines, no maddening crowds, and a magnificent view from your balcony.

Too...don't be afraid to try a bar-b-que hamburger by the pool at least once! A cold beer and a cheeseburger simply cannot be over-rated! (We normally do this in the late afternoon, and then order a late dinner in our suite!)

You will love the suite life!

If one goes to the NCL description of the Accomodations it describes all the benefits and certain Suites and they are are out of this world with priviledges and services. Love those butlers and hot tub and patio right out each Cabin deck and the Courtyards - too die for. And on the Gem the shower had a multi multi set of jets which I would kill for.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day and Cagney's is out of this world. Loved it.

Absolutely agree! And the Fillet is the best you'll ever have. The burger (with the pineapple) was a little messy, but never had a good meal at Cagney's -- All were great! That said, I am happy with the included lunch and breakfast (for Suite Pax) and don't feel like I need to pay the cover for dinner. Go to Le Bistro for dinner - 2x on my Sky trip...

Have a great cruise! Try a specialty martini in the Plantation bar/lounge just across from Cagney's. As for me, I love the steak/eggs combo from the menu and the smoked salmon along with the cucumber/cream cheese thing from Cagney's buffet cart for breakfast. For lunch, the shrimp cocktail is a must do!

One more great perk is you can have High Tea in the Courtyard everyday 3x a day if you wish. Bartender and Courtyard waiter there just waiting to serve you anytime. Hors d'ouvres assorted served in your room everyday. Fresh fruit and flowers in room everyday also. Reserved balcony private seats for alll shows.....heavenly!

It is easy to search for results for your question. It is hard to put up with all the grief you will get from all the people who wished you would have used search. :cool:Why do people subject themselves to critics. One would think that, after all the lynch mob mentality of this board, you would choose to search rather than to subject yourself to the wolves on this board.

Wonder how everyones liking the NCL cruise? Can't wait to hear. I love NCL myself.

Geri

We enjoyed it. I was expecting something more with Cagney's - ate lunch there twice and dinner once. We thought Le Bistro was a bit better. The third night we canceled our reservation for the Italian place and went instead to Longboard's and enjoyed some very good wings.

One of my favorite meals is Prime Rib, what they brought me at Cagney's (ordered M-Rare) looked more like a steak (NOT a sliced piece, but apparently broiled) and a tough one at that. The Horseradish sauce had zero evidence of horseradish. I did enjoy the Clam Chowder and fries there. I thanked them for a great meal...

In Le Bistro the Escargot was tasty, though the lamb I ordered (M-Rare) came out VERY rare -- don't get me wrong, I love a rare filet or burger! I pointed it out as soon as they brought me the plate. It returned within 5 minutes looking broiled, and (you guessed it) TOUGH. I thanked them for a great meal...

When I dine in a specialty restaurant on a ship (meaning extra $), I do expect a higher caliber of food than would be offered in the MDR. One of the lunch visits in Cagney's I ordered a cheeseburger. We were the ONLY people in there (Grand Stirrup Cay day) - so the service was great. The burger was dry, the bun hard (I did not complain) - and thanked them again. Later that afternoon I made my own burger at the buffet and found it much better... glad the lunch and breakfast (we did not try - not up early enough!) in Cagney's is at N/C to suite guests!

Hi Tom,
How did you rate NCL with CCL? I find it hard to beat CCL being affordable, fun and still a great time for us (as you can see in our signature) but I adore the Carnival Cloud 9 Spa and cabins which is all Spa inclusive. We have another Spa Cabin coming up on the Splendor going to the Mexican Riviera in Sept. Interline rates.

Somethings with NCL were just not so with CCL. I would not be happy unless I had the Butler on NCL (that's just me) Jack did not like the Butler idea in particular. :(

What was the Suite like? Did you get to see the 14th deck and Courtyard? Maybe the Sky is different than the Gem. The only thing I liked in Cagney's was the Lobster Eggs Benedict and the free Lobster dinner and wine; and I found the French restaurant great and free dinners but it was dicey like you said....very raw lamb as well.
However, I do really like the Gem and NCL in general.
TIA

Hi Geri

If you want a full report on total use of NCL butler services, here is a click on link to my report on our recent NCL Spirit cruise from New Orleans to Boston which was published by CruiseCritc.com. I hope you find it interesting, informative AND entertaining.

The suite was nice, though starting to show its age. The shower was a bit cramped (especially for a suite), and we are not "people of size". Hard to position shower head. Faucet in the sink was way towards the back - meaning that it was difficult to wash your hands without banging the back of the sink... odd. The sliding door (to the balcony) in the living area was very hard to open/close - not so with the other one. I loved the fact that you could plug in your own tunes to the amp and play through the mounted (ceiling corners) speakers in the living area and/or bedroom.

On the sky there was not a special area (courtyard).

I liked the fact that the casino rebates a portion of losses (if large enough ) at the end of the cruise and puts it towards your onboard charges, whereas Carnival offers it up on your next sailing -- assuming they are on top of the paperwork!

It was nice having a concierge to take care of things (a great "go to" option). We did not utilize the butler as we did not dine in our cabin.

Carnival falls short by not offering better services (concierge and butler) to its suite guests and by not having a "comfort food" place like Longboard's (great wings).

"You got that right" (to use some Lynyrd Skynyrd lyrics) ;)

After mentioning to Cheryl once or twice that I thought you might somehow show up, I think she was almost expecting it! :D

Don, can you picture the look on my face when they brought me the "Prime Rib" which I mentioned a couple of posts ago? Even horseradish from St. Thomas would not have helped that piece of beef!

Steak and eggs, crab cakes benedict, omelets, pancakes, belgian waffle, and other things I can't remember!

Plus there is a small buffet area with juices, cheese, fruit, cereal, yogurt, etc.
