Day hotel in Ft Lauderdale

We're a family group of 11 (including six kids ages 8-17) and we are flying home from FLL (cruise is in/out of Miami). Our homebound flight does not leave until 6:30pm so we're trying to figure out what to do for the day.

 

At this point, I have a 12 passenger van reserved from Thrifty w/ drop off at FLL. I'm thinking that with our size group, it just may be easiest to pick up the van, drive up to Ft Lauderdale, park the van and head to the beach for the day. I would really like the opportunity to shower/change prior to heading to the airport.

 

Does anyone have experience with a decent day hotel that's either on the beach, or within walking distance to the beach?

 

Definitely looking for advice, hotel names, suggestions, etc.

you will have to call hotels directly and ask...not the 800 numbers as most hotels will only know the day of, or maybe day ahead..

 

you COULD maybe priceline something and hope that you could get an early check in......

 

i will ask the MODS to move this to the FLA board
