jtb123 Posted June 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2010 We are staying 3 days ahead of our cruise in North Beach Miami. We will have two grandaughters 9 and 12 with us. Any suggestions on things to do with them?
RHefley228 Posted June 18, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Are you staying in North Miami or North Miami Beach? North Miami is really not a place where you want to be (and I own a condo there, but in a safe part of the city). And if North Miami Beach, where exactly are you staying? Not all of North Miami Beach is on the ocean, and that's a really tricky geographical thing to explain to visitors without showing them a map. RuthlessBunny Posted June 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2010 Word, word, wordy, McWord. Will you have a car? There's not a lot of stuff on the beach that I would think children that age would be into. MetroZoo is good, although more steamy and sleepy in the summertime. There are childrens discovery museums both in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. Quiet Waters park in Deerfield is closed for refurbishment, but a water park is a thought. North Miami Beach is either dodgy or Bal Harbor, either way not a great place for children. Movies and beach if you're stuck on the beach.
jtb123 Posted June 20, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted June 20, 2010 We are staying at the Doubletree Ocean resort in North Miami beach. It is on the beach. Is North Miami beach not a good place to stay???We will not have a car but may consider renting one for a day if there is something pretty close for the girls to see. Thanks for your inputs. The beach area itself is fine, just somewhat less interesting (for adults) than South Beach. Some interesting shopping along A1A. Some of the more inland locations are nice and some are a little sketchy. Bear in mind that you are about 12 miles north of Lincoln Road in South Beach. You are really going to need a car in that area. Honestly all kids that age want are the beach and a mall.
