Online you are required to put payment (CC) in right away.

 

If you call Princess you will get a few days as long as its not past final payment.

Just last week I wanted a particular stateroom, just as the cruise opened up for booking. I was able to book it/place a hold on it, with no deposit or FCC, and it said the booking would need to be deposited by the end of the day or the stateroom would revert back to the inventory and the booking would be cancelled. Very simple process.

Afterwards I contacted my TA and she was able to take over the booking that afternoon and apply FCC's for the deposit after I made a quick call to Princess advising them I wanted to transfer it over to the TA. ;)

My understanding is that a cruise can be held for the day through the website, but a TA (or possibly through Princess by phone) can hold a booking for up to three days without a deposit put on it. ;)
