I have read some of the posts related to scrapbooking, and am happy to know that Carnival sells scrapbooks and supplies. I just got off RCI Oasis of the Seas. One of the activities 2 times a day for an hour, for 6 of the 7 days, was scrapbooking. They gave out 3 free scrapbook sets with embellishments and 3 12x12 pages. They had mini punches and a device that cut out words and figures. There was another set with 8 pages and even more embellishments that you could buy, all RCI and Oasis of the Seas related.

The photo shops sold a scrapbook, but I was told it would not fit 12x12 pages, a surprise for those who were planning to put in the pages they had made- all ready except for the photos you could paste in later. We are going on the CCL Freedom in December. Are there activity times such as I described, or just an opportunity to buy supplies? Does the scrapbook they sell hold 12x12 pages?

You are apt to be dissapointed with Carnival then, because unless the person running the class buys stuff to share, there wasnt free stuff, you need to buy the stuff. I dont know good from bad and they looked to me like they had fun, but it might have been a good group, not because Carnival does it well.

The scrapbook I purchased on our last cruise held 12x12s. :)

Never had the opportunity to scrap on a cruise (last cruise was Alaska in 2007). While I love to scrap, I don't know that I'd spend cruise time doing it. Guess it would depend on how I felt at the time. :D

The cruise we just got off had a guy with a box of supplies and laid it out on the piano by the coffee shop. 1st time it was offered, showed up 30 mins after the start time and he was GONE. Saw it for the 2nd time, and I was like "I'm going to be there" Got there 10 minutes early, and he was already laying out his stuff to buy. Bought 2 kits, got some free pictures of the ship, and then he was like "Since you bought this, you get this other kit for free".

Kid you not, within 20 minutes he was gone again. Probably not his "thing" and was told to go here and do this job... I actually felt bad for him.

That was the extent of scrapbooking on our Carnival cruise. The kits did make for some nice pages though.

Wow! I'd love to know if there's definitely scrapbook supplies sold on Carnival ships.. this makes me happy!!! The older I get the more enjoyable the little things are. I love putting together great scrapbooks of our vacations! I guess I'm hoping when I'm long gone, my kids/grandkids will pull out the books and reminisce. :)

They do sell scrapbooks and scrapbook supplies on the ship. Also, they do have a time set aside for working on them, if desired. It will be in the Fun Times. You do have to purchase the scrapbooks and any other supplies you might need (pages, etc.) I guess you could take your own scissors, etc. with you. Here is a picture of the scrapbooking kiosk I took aboard the Ecstasy. They are always found in the photo area.

WooHoo! Scrapbooking! It is my passion and my pleasure! I am a scrapbooking instructor and I have been scrapping for 21 years. That kiosk with all of the supplies looks great. I also save all of the ephemera I can find on every cruise and in every port. I am ready!

I've only been scrapbooking for less than 2 years. I have made a scrapbook for our last 2 vacations and am getting one started for our cruise in October. Our local craft store has a section devoted to "cruises" but everything is so expensive. I spent almost $20 just to get the first page started. I can see just how easy it would be to go overboard :D with buying things. I'm sure they wont be cheap on the ship but it would be nice to have a few accessories that are specific to Carnival.

On my cruise in April the prices for the scrapbook supplies were very reasonable. And tax free:D.

They have kits full of ribbons and stickers. There was Carnival related stickers in all the packs. Then each pack was based on destination. They had an Alaska pack, a Caribbean pack, etc.

I'd have to take a look at home but I don't believe the Caribbean pack of stickers and paper cost more than $13. And it came with a lot of stuff. I didn't buy an actual scrapbook so I am not sure of the price of those.

I don't recall any scrapbooking classes on my cruise either.

Some pictures:

The scrapbooks offered are specific to the areas in which Carnival cruises. For example, they have Alaskan-themed Carnival scrapbooks, Mexican Riviera Carnival scrapbooks, Caribbean Carnival scrapbooks... same with the kits.

I bought everything in site. And I have no use for a bunch of it as there is one kit specific to the casino and gambling. Another that is for the Mexican Riviera. I am thinking about offering them on the scrapbooking thread here to give them a good home. The kits are around $13-15 for the kits... toward the end of the cruise, some of the stuff I purchased was 50% off, so I got them for a really good price! They do fit 12x12 pages, and they also have mini albums, too.

I've seen it offered in the "Capers" (now called "Fun Times") but same experience... no real scrapbooking, per se. They should take some lessons from RCI, perhaps.

It would be really fun to scrap/crop on board the ship with other people who love it as much as I do.

Wow, great information. I will wait until the end of the cruise to see if the prices go down. Thanks.

Yes, you should offer it up under the thread, you never know who may need it.

I have been a consultant with a national scrapbook company for over 10 years. In February, 2010 we had a group of about forty of us who have connected for years on a message board with lots of other scrappers and crafters.

We had a ball on the Legend, but decided before hand that we were not doing any scrapping on the cruise, we all just took lots of pictures for future scrapbooks. With luggage regulations now, we knew bringing tools and supplies would push the weight limits. I have just completed my albums (2) because I had 96 pages ! Way too big for one album.

I also made a small digital album about the cruise for those friends who might NOT want to wade through all 96 pages. LOL, imagine that ! I love looking at every single page.

I'm looking forward to our next cruise. This time I will take a few food photos and photos of the ship. Can't wait until Jan. for a cruise on the Miracle.

On our recent Fantasy cruise they had scrap booking 3 times during the 7 day cruise. the person running the class had all types of papers, postcards from the photo gallery, punches, and the medals carnival gives winners of competitions. He also had a Cricut Machine and would cut out text and graphics for you. He said while carnival provided some of the stuff, he had to buy the rest (cricut machine) himself. My GF made probably a half a dozen pages and we gave him $10 to help get supplies for the nest cruise.

They also sold the scrapbook kits and albums.

I truly think it is a beautiful and wonderful hobby.. and really gives such beautiful honorings of memories; does alot for grandparent grandchild relationships too..my mom has those things and quilts going all the time..hope she decides to leave the scrapbook projects in bunches like she says she will lieave the quilt stuff should there be any unfinished projects..just so we can carrey out love and respect wishes..and i pray she is here al LONG time to finish all projects because there are alot ..i'd love to learn digital camara and organizing all photos..maybe once and awhile ordering a book..they evolved to that with one special grandfather/ grandaughter trip..either way is lovely but it is a lot of stuff..and personally..the requested family projects drive me nuts..i'm lousy and not inclined to either...bring on the digital photo and computer photo learning and organizing lessons!!! But both things are great for ships..would do alot to attract the happy family groups too.

You scrapbookers are cool though..quilters too..smiles...sjn911

Don't expect much.

On our cruise last week, they had a table out with heavily discounted supplies (albums/kits) - for places we weren't sailing, but for $8.95 for the albums with pages, they were a pretty good deal. The kits were discounted to $3.95 - also for places we weren't sailing.

The "classes" were most likely a disappointment, but then we really wouldn't know. We were waiting to attend the first session on-board. While waiting, the two gentlemen running the "class" were standing there, simply reading a script with the definition of scrapbooking off a sheet of paper, joking about it and laughing it up, we saw little reason to stay for it. These two guys would have done better in one of the entertainment venues as they were probably funnier than some of the comedians.

We had much better things to do on-board than waste our time with something so useless, most likely resulting in a sales pitch to buy stuff.

You can do scrapbooking to your heart's content while not on vacation cruising. Why waste precious time on-board doing what you can do elsewhere when your time is not at a premium? If anything, Carnival gave us a good reminder of that.

I bought a 12x12 when cruising to Mexico and it came apart at the binder area and now i have to hold it together with both hands when showing it. I cant find a replacement bolt for the binder and I've given up on Carnival for any compensation after several unanswered emails. Wont buy another one... I think I paid 20 or 25 dollars for it but it did have some nice stickers that came with it.

Melody - can you perhaps take it to a local scrapbook store and have the posts replaced? I was able to do that with one I had purchased long ago (not from Carnival). Our local Michaels had the supplies needed and gave free assistance after I purchased the parts (less than $10.00 to replace all) Just a suggestion -

Oh, well I bought "extenders" at Michael's Arts & Crafts because my book got too big for its britches and didn't have a problem at all. Just replace the one you have with a different one--you can buy them at any craft store that sells scrapbooking supplies. Your album should be good as new.

Three Birds makes the albums for Carnival. They sell products on HSN.com as well as on other websites. I've never had a problem with them... this is a problem easily solved.

When we went on the Pride, one of the days had a scrapbooking sale and if you went during that time you got some free stuff. It wasn't too much, but it was nice and I got some great deals on other things. :)
