Copenhagen: Couple Lunch Spots

Recommended Posts

We will be arriving in Copenhagen in Mid-August (pre-cruise) for a couple of days.

We will need a place to eat lunch on Sunday and Monday.

I have researched TA on their restaurant suggestions and have come up with a couple of ideas, but I was wondering what anybody here might have to say.

We will be doing Frederiksborg Castle one day. How is the restaurant at the castle?

We will be arriving at Tivoli in the early afternoon on another day.

We will have the Copenhagen Card so we will be able to get around and we will be staying at the Bethel Hotel.

I would like to find something that serves "local" food with a "decent" price (I realize Copenhagen is NOT cheap, and that is fine). Kind of looking for a different type of experience.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

We ate at the kiosks in front of City hall it is right near Tivoli if you do not want to pay the prices in Tivoli

They had reasonable priced food (for Europe) along with beer if you want that also

On a Sunday the best place in Copenhagen for brunch is the Marriott. 300 DK with endless champagne, but you may not be up for anything else after this...

In Tivoil my favourite mid priced restaurant is the Grøften and if memory serves me well the restaurant on the grounds of Fredericksborg castle was very good.

By the way I have lived in Copenhagen for two years. I hope this helps.:)

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for your help.

I have a few questions:

1. Is the Mariott brunch traditional Danish fare?

2. What does anybody know about these four lunch/brunch spots?

a. Kobenhavner Cafeen

b. Sans Souci

c. The Royal Cafe

d. Kystenperle

These were Danish type restaurants recommended by TA.

Thanks.

Zoolander, the Marriott brunch is a buffet with both regular and Danish brunch food. Ther will be lots of seafood, including pickled fish, Danish meats and sausages, cheeses, breads and of course pastries!!

The only lunch spot on your list I have visited is the Royal Cafe which I can thoroughly recommend.

Bon appetit!;)
