How cool. Bahamians are so nice. Great to see them welcome in the new ship. With the new Bahamas port tax increase they are happier than ever.

Just in Nassau and on the way to the airport the driver pointed out the huge mountains of sand that had to be dredged from the harbor for Oasis and Epic to use it!

Yup, both EPIC and OASIS have deep drafts for modern passenger ships.

 

EPIC = 28.5 ft

OASIS = 30 ft

QM2 = 32 ft

 

Compare to some older liners:

 

NORWAY (which could never dock in Nassau) = 35 ft

QE2 = 32 ft

QUEEN MARY = 42 ft

SS UNITED STATES = 31 ft

 

 

Now that the outer pier area is dredged, I wonder if QM2 could dock in Nassau?
