Rare CruisinCrow Posted July 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2010 We did the Atlantis Beach Day in January but not through the ship. We just cabbed it over to Atlantis and bought the passes at the casino. It was $60 and included lunch (choice of burger, fried chicken, fish plus drink and fries at one of the beach grills). If you go on your own, you can go and come back to the ship whenever you want. The Beach Day pass allows you access to the Digs and the marine habitats too but not the pools or water slides. Since then, there's been a lot of erosion on the main beach. Maybe Scubagirrl or someone who's been there recently can tell you the status of the beach. As for being worth it, we wouldn't have done it if we didn't think it would be worth it. :) That's a personal decision and everyone will have a different opinion. Rare CruisinCrow Posted July 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2010 One piece of advice would be to bring your own bottled water. It's very expensive at Atlantis and there are no water fountains. Have fun!

Rare CruisinCrow Posted July 20, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2010 Well, I haven't done the beach pass through the ship so I couldn't tell you if it's worth it or not. How much does the cruise excursion cost? We paid $60 for the pass in January and of course had to get our own transportation ($5 a person each way). Our pass DID include lunch. I don't know if they still include it but they definitely included it when we were there in January. They gave you a voucher you could use at one of the 5 outdoor grills. The first time we went to Atlantis a couple of years ago, a tiny, tiny (I mean tiny) bottle of water cost $4. The only advantage of booking the cruise line's excursion that I can see if that you're guaranteed a ticket. The disadvantage is that is costs more and you have to wait for your group to head over to Atlantis, which wastes a lot of time.

Rare CruisinCrow Posted July 21, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 21, 2010 You're welcome. Have a great day in Nassau! Oh, I forgot to mention that you should wear comfortable shoes for walking. That place is HUGE! :)

In the summer, the beach stays open until 6ish. In the winter, it gets dark just after 5pm, so the beach is closed before dark. The main beach at Atlantis (which is where you are allowed with your pass) is not that great, there's a free beach next door, you can rent a chair for $10 for the same beach / water. The beach next door didn't get the erosion problem that Atlantis got this season. The main beach has some serious bedrock issues. A cab can get you to the free beach for just $4 pp.
