Ideas for what to do in Milos

We are taking a Star Clipper Cruise in Sept and Milos is one of our stops. Can anyone give us some ideas about what to expect or things you would recommend? Any information would be helpful for planning so we can make the most of out day there. I don't think they have any excursions offered so we would love any suggestions on unique/fun things to do.

Thanks!

We visited Milos in June, 2006 and it had small villages, remote beaches, unusual rock formations, historic digs, etc. It was interesting and we liked seeing something a little different from just your mega-tourist town. This is Greece in all its beauty, but without the crowds that found in the more popular Cyclades Islands. Below are a few visual samples of what we saw and liked there.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Hi Terry. Thanks for your great information and photos. We are going on a similar cruise with Seabourn this summer and are fascinated with the photos we've seen of Milos, especially the beaches. Did you take the ship's tour? Do you know if there is a way to get around without taking the ship's tour? Are there private cars for hire, taxis or other transportation? Any thoughts or recommendations regarding getting around the island?
