Reviews, comments on one night cruises

There were some comments in April and/or May about the good things about taking a one night cruise on Holland America, mostly from Seattle to Vancouver, or Vancouver to Seattle. I tried forum search and couldn't find the threads.

 

Anyone have any suggestions on how to find those cruise threads? I am thinking of taking a one nighter in the fall.

Sounded like a ton of young people onboard and one big party from the people we talked to. Who knows could have just been their view of it.

I have taken many 1-night cruises, because I only live a couple hours from Seattle. I doing a 1-night cruise on the Zaandam this year, (we are also staying in Vancouver for a couple days, and then taking another cruise down to San Francisco,) and have done the Amsterdam in the past, along with many others. It is very cheap usually, and a nice weekend get-away. We have had great good, and alway had a main show in the showroom, and other shows or music playing round the ship.

I also did a one nighter on the Rotterdam the next weekend. It was great too although I prefer the Oosterdam. The casino was open much later on the Rotterdam. there were 2 shows that night too.

We had quite a few people get on the ship in Vancouver to go to Seattle in 2009 on the Westerdam. There was much concern as a number of years ago the people who got on the Amsterdam for a one night cruise partied to all hours of the night and gave security quite a hassle.

 

We noticed that the majority of the people on our cruise who did the one nighter were middle ages -- came nicely dressed to the dining room -- were not party-hardy people. They were there mainly for a nice day/evening and a lovely meal.

 

Security was out and about -- but everything went well.
