laura2060 Posted July 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2010 Single dad and 8 year old son trying to find a cruise last week in Sept. Are all kids' programs fully operating and staffed? Do they cut back when most kids are in school? Which lines, ships, have most interesting programs? Have done Disney already.
cb at sea Posted July 25, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2010 The programs will run, regardless of the number of kids...they may combine age groups if there aren't enough to fill a "group", but that's unusual.... Both Carnival and RCI will please...most are very satisfied with the programs.

onthelake Posted July 26, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2010 If you are sailing out of an East Coast port in Sept., there will still be plenty of kids on board - just not the mobs of summer and school breaks. We homeschooled for a number of years and took longer repositioning cruises in both the fall and spring. My son always had a great time in the kids clubs (appreciated that they could 'do' something instead of just crowd control) and always had a good friend or two for ping pong, basketball, the pool, etc. Choose a cruise that is offerring the ports and amenities you want (private island?) and don't worry too much about the kids club. It is funny, most of the boards have poster trying to get away from kids and this one we try to find them! Princess will actually tell you how many kids on board for a particular sailing if you call them. You can also check on the roll-calls here. Since you are looking at Sept., that is not too far out and you should be able to get a pretty good idea of the numbers.
