Freedom Western Caribbean - Port or Starboard?

Recommended Posts

We were port side our Western cruise on the Freedom and had nice views of all the ports. Have a great cruise!

That is what I was going to write. From 2007 I believe it was.

It really doesn't matter what side of the ship your cabin is on. The port authority dictates what side is to the dock. The Captain may have a preference but the end word belongs to the Authority. Even Oasis has to switch sides on occasion and they have a special arrangement for disembarking passengers geared for the starboard side.

Remember you can always go to an open public deck if you want to see the "other" side. P.S. It's more fun to watch for "runners" with a drink in your hand and others around you cheering as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand the part about docking in port but was more interested if there was a preferred side for views in general. Having done only the Mexican Riviera, I felt the port side was much better since there was a fair amount of sailing by the coast as you approached and departed ports.

We will be going from PC to Labadee-Ocho Rios-Grand Cayman-Cozumel.

I've been on the Western itinerary a couple times on the Freedom and we always pick port side and have never been disappointed. Like someone else wrote, there's a nice view on both sides. Have a wonderful time.

We actually prefer being away from the land, when in port....if you're sitting on your balcony, it's not very relaxing with dock workers looking up at you, as well as all of the "onshore" passengers!

GC is tendered, so the bow of the ship is usually facing the island.
