We just got back for Las Vegas, and saw a man hit $1,557,000 on a dollar wheel of frtune slot ($2 in each time, invested $8) at Sam's Town. Not big gamblers but get comped there 3 nights each month..planing our first cruise. Thanks for all the info.

Your question concerned "FUN". 90% + of my gambling is day trips to Atlantic city, sometimes with an overnight thrown in. When I'm on a cruise typically 7 days, I know that I'll be playing craps for 7 consecutive days at the same table with low limits. I'm am a very good shooter but I don't risk big bucks at gambling. The most I ever bring with me to AC is $400. So on a cruise I may bring $1500 which is a little over $200 per night. I try to play very conservatively for the first 2 nights with the main goal of money preservation. This allows me bet bigger as the cruise progresses.

Back to the table, if I'm at the same table day after day I will learn the best landing zone and type to throw to make to optimize my throwing. So back to your question. I consider craps on a cruise ship to be more fun than Vegas or AC. Your on vacation and doing a lot of fun things during the day with great food. Followed by a craps session on a low stakes table after dinner. I consider this to be great fun.

I think the most fun I seem to have is at Bill's in Vegas, don't know why but even when I'm losing I seem to have a good time. If you want to check it out you better hurry as Harrah's is thinking of turning it into a Boutique hotel and that will ruin it.

Bill's is the place!!!!! Lots of fun.....and how can you not enjoy gambling with BIG ELVIS doing a couple shows a day!!!!

Stayed there back in June.....not bad rooms and a great price!!!

:):cool::):cool::)

It's far more fun in Monte Carlo and in Macau.

I was in Macau in 2000, shortly after the hand-over. It was (is?) a sick place. Cinderblock walled casinos, jam packed, five people deep at the BJ tables (multiple people betting on each spot)...crazy action. No craps, but literally hundreds of ladies (girls) of the evening milling about as you left the casino floor...it was a crazy scene.

For fun gaming, nothing beats a hot craps table, wherever it might be located. For fun while gambling, nothing beats vegas (although being on a cruise ain't bad). Aruba's pretty good too.

I've gambled in too many place to remember... some I don't even want to remember.. In some of those places it probably wasn't even legal.. :D

5 cruises and I've only had one bad experience with gaming or dealers on a ship - that was on NCL.. very impersonable and almost mean spirited. Both Carnival and Princess had pleasant and knowledgeable dealers on the cruises I was on...

bottom line in my opinion, make a few bets for the dealers, establish a good rapport, be polite, and they'll take care of you.

Vegas is Vegas, baby.. and yes.. BIG ELVIS is the MAN! The best free show in town.

We always stop at Bill's to see Big Elvis. As a matter of fact this is the week we would normally be going to Vegas but I talked my group into going to Mexico this year instead. What the heck was I thinking:eek::rolleyes::p

Hahahaha. You gotta love this post. Watch out for an old timer here that goes by Evergladesgator. He swears by him. Frank is his hero. He emails him now and then. Signs "Evergladesgator" in his emails which I thought was hysterical. But he doesn't get it. But that is okay. He is old and doesn't know any better. :p

I was actually wondering if someone would EVER bring this up. Now that someone else brought this up, it makes it more credible. Great post Frocky! I hope I can call you that. :D

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Yo: Too bad the first part didn't come up. Anyway, I do use the five count as used by the Captain and written about by Frank Scoblete. It has saved me from losing thousands of dollars. Have I won a million yet from using Scoblete's methods? Of course not, however, it has kept me in the game and made me a tough out.

One thing I didn't see posted is that on a cruise ship you see the same people every day whereas in a land based casino you tend to see different people every day.
You've never been to a Las Vegas "Locals" casino. Go play at Sam's Town, Orleans, Green Valley Ranch and you'll see the same players EVERY day.

Before moving to Las Vegas I would visit as often as every two weeks. During one trip my girlfriend and I ran into the same couple playing Pai Gow Poker at 4 different casinos. It became a running joke to see if they or we would be at the table first.

My husband and I go to Atlantic City about 2X a month for overnighters. We love gambling on the ship-HOWEVER if you are losing the casino starts to feel really small! Theres no where to go to play different machines or tables! We primarily cruise for the gambling, beaches, and food! We cruise out of NY in January so those sea days should be called Casino days!:)

We love gambling in AC and on the ship-just different experiences.
