Hi sorry if these questions have already been asked but when we dock in Civitavecchia we wont be doing any excursions but fancy a wander around the town, have done a little homework and know the is a distance between docks and town, will we be able to get off ship and get any type of shuttle from ship into town or once at port gates is the town fairly close, has anyone got any idea or done the same themselves.

also

I cant bare being stuck on coaches for long in Livorno has anyone done the Tirrenia Beach excursion is the coach journey long and is the beach nice with any little cafes ect.

also

In Santa Margherita how long are you on the coach for the portofino excursion

also

In Marseille on the Cassis excursion is it a long time on Coach and if we didnt do this trip does anyone know if wandering off ship into local town is doable and what is the town like to wander around?

and lastly you will be glad to know

In Menorca are you on the coach long for the Sun sea and leisure trip and is there nearby cafes ect by the beach thanks in advance and sorry to bombard you all with so many questions LOL:confused:

Civitavecchia - you get the shuttle from the ship to the port gate and you are in town !! Walk to the right and you have the sea front which is quite pleasant....there is a nice cafe across the road which does lovely cakes and coffee ! we haven't walked to the left so don't know what's there but up the hill are some shops...

can't help with the other places I'm afraid :)

In addition, if the OP searches on Google Maps for Civitavecchia, there are good satellite images of the streets in town. The train station in town in conveniently located to the entrance to the port if OP decides to take a train to some other locale nearby.

As has been said, shuttle bus available that drops and collects at port gate. Not a lot to do once your in the town. There is a decent beach on the right as you come out the port gates, take a left up the hill there are a few shops/cafes/bars.Half way up on the left and up a set of stairs there is a market(depending on what day you are there)selling tat, fruit, veg, meat etc.We were in Cittavechia on a Saturday and there was no market,in fact the whole town was dead.Went for a few beers and then back to the ship for a laze about. It was great, ship was like the Mary Celeste as most passengers were away to Rome :D

In Santa Margherita how long are you on the coach for the portofino excursion This is a motorboat excursion, you tender ashore and then get a boat to various places. You can also do this yourself by catching the ferry or you can catch a local bus to Portofino

also

In Marseille on the Cassis excursion is it a long time on Coach IIRC about a hour each way. The cliffs are impressive but don't fall off, its a long way down. The road up the cliffs is very steep and twisty and if we didnt do this trip does anyone know if wandering off ship into local town is doable and what is the town like to wander around?
