veranda vs midship veranda on Silver Spirit

We are thinking of doing a Singapore to Dubai cruise this spring. Other than stability, what are potential positives of booking a midship veranda suite vs a veranda suite?....and which deck (6,7,8?)?

We are also considering the similar itinerary on Seabourn Sojourn, but like the Silversea itinerary better. Any good reason to go to Seabourn over Silversea? From these posts there are pros and cons to each. In the past we have taken these boards as personal preference and use as guidance only.

This will be a "honeymoon" cruise....finally getting married 10 years and 3 children later.....a getaway without children...it will be a nice change for a couple weeks and want to relax and be spoiled a bit

We walked a few extra steps down the hall to our non mid veranda suite...that's the only difference. We were on 8 our friends were on 9 and 7...it didn't matter. Nine is on the same deck as the pool. Eight is the same deck as the Casino and Seven is is the same deck as La Terraza.

Given the excellent stability of Silver Spirit, I wouldn't spend the extra money for a midship verandah. The only less than desireable stateroom location on Spirit is the area right above the Bar on deck 6. At present I believe you'll get a better deal on Silversea as opposed to Seabourn. Both are excellent lines.

This is an excellent summary. The main and only difference is the extra steps to walk from the central elevator core of the ship to your suite. Mid-ship is a little closer and more "handy", but the room interiors are all basically the same lay-out and sizes.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

On Silver Spirit the forward elevators are very close to both the verandah and midship verandah suites. Not even a noticeable difference. The deck plans make it look further than it really is. We were in 801 on the January T/A and went thru the equivalent of a cat 2 hurricane between Lisbon and Las Palmas( couldn't get into Funchal ). No problem. As I have stated before, Spirit is the best riding ship I've ever been aboard. It took about a minute and a half to walk from 801 to the forward elevators.

Given that dougburns is an experienced Navy Captain, we believe him. The question becomes will ship builders learn something from the Spirit's hull design? The cabin and public area design is another matter. Also, has the noise problem above the Bar been alleviated (move the music to the Panorama Lounge for example)?

Appears the noise is still with the ship from a recent thread-http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1250961, post 13

That link is very informative. Thank you.

The second part of their cruise summary is now posted- http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1250961, post 40

Interesting to note that they have raised for the first time on any thread I have read on the Silversea Spirit that their second cabin had horizontal and well as vertical (noise from above; resolved the noise from below problem when they were moved) problems. Her other comments relating to summertime cruises and change in mix of passengers was also interesting

Worthwhile read by all

We were in suite 746 mid ship veranda on the Aug 7-14 Venice-Athens cruise and we experienced no noise at all, very, very quite. Also we totally agree with Doug Burns- the stability of the Spirt is unbelievable. You would never know that you were at sea.
