Looking to book on Serenad of the Seas with RCL and was wondering which side of the ship should we book our balcony room so we are not looking at water all the time while in port.

It can vary from sailing to sailing as the port master decides based on the weather and sea conditions. Pick the room for location on the ship.

Some ports you will pull in, some ports you will back in. It all depends on how many ships, their size and when they get there. Even if you are not facing the shore you will probably still have views of the harbor.

And we've always booked on the starboard side and had good luck with that. :D But this next time we're trying the port side just to see if we've missed anything. For the OP, it really doesn't matter as it varies from port to port and there is never a bad view.

i always book port side- lst cruise we docked port side everywhere- 2nd cruise 50-50 on which side we docked-

As others have said it can vary with each sailing so it's a crap shoot. On our Eastern Caribbean cruise on Mariner we had a port side aft corner and in Puerto Rico we pulled in with the starboard side to the pier so we had a wonderful view of the water, same in St Thomas. In St Martin we backed in back to back with a Princess Ship so my view was of the ugly aft end of that ship and a small view of a crane on the shore to the right.
