Freedom of the Seas Planning Help

Recommended Posts

I am hopeflly going to be taking a Freedm cruise next October and currently in the planning stages. Here are some questions I hope to get answered.

1) What costs extra on the Freedom? Other then souvenirs and drinks what else should I expect?

2) I will be sailing next October. I am a Florida resident now. The rate is pretty good now but would you expect rates to lower as we get closer to sailing (Maybe some resident specials etc). If they go down can I modify rates or do they not do that?

This will be my first cruise with RCCL so any help is really apprecaited and any info you think I should know.

Thanks again

Chris

I'm a newbie, but I will do my best. We are sailing on her next May, so I have already asked and had answered a billion questions.

1. Extras: Bingo, Casino, Specialty Restaurants, Excursions, and most importantly TIPS (approx $10 per day PER PERSON for anything other than a suite or above I believe), soda (I assumed you meant alcoholic above), room service between midnight and 5 am

2. I am no expert here, but I was told that the earlier you book your cruise the better, as prices are the least expensive right when the ship is available to book. If there is a price drop after you have booked (with deposit) you can get a 'refund' of whatever the new price difference is. If there is a price drop AFTER your final payment due date you cannot get a credit (although I heard you can get a cabin upgrade, but I'm not familiar with exactly how that works).

I'm sure I have missed something in my newbie-attempt, but there are plenty on here that can fix any glaring errors. Enjoy!

All your drinks including sodas will have a 15% gratuity automatically added to it. The specialty resturaunts cost $25 per person. They are worth the price. You get over $50 worth of food and the food is excellent. Ice cream from Ben and Jerrys costs extra; however u can find a ice cream machine up by the pool; it is free, as is the coffee. They will be adding the cupcake bakery to Freedom in March when it goes into drydock. The cupcakes are $2.95 each and I am told they are wonderful. If u come up with any more questions please ask. I will be on Freedom next Dec.:)

We were on the FOS June 27th sailing. Extras not included are a soda drink card, alcoholic beverages, specialty coffee, Ben and Jerrys ice-cream, flow rider lesson ($60 p/p for one hour), bingo, photos taken by the photographer on board, gratuities (approx $9.50 p/p p/day), Johnny Rockets to name a few.

The earlier you book usually the lower the price. There usually isn't any penalty for canceling as long as final payment has not been made. If the price does go down before final payment, you will get a price adjustment. If the price goes down after final payment, we were given the difference in on board credit by our travel agent (which helped with gratuities, and any extras we bought on board). Hope this helps.
