How does Princess Wifi work?

I'm thinking I'll bring the netbook and check for Wifi sights on shore. I'll look for all the ship employees, lol. If I use onshore Wifi for my Verizon netbook, will Verizon charge me minutes? (I really feel netbook challenged.)
We used our Verizon phone once on a cruise (in Alaska) and got killed by roaming charges.

 

The answer to "can you hear me now?" was "yes, and is it gonna cost you !":eek:

How secure is Princess Wifi? Is it safe to check bank and credit card accounts?
You should be OK using your netbook and going to an https website. I do it only in case of an emergency, not regularly. I would never check bank balance or credit cards using the ship's computers.
